Lurkers/leapers, old sculpt question
« on: June 18, 2012, 11:49:16 PM »
Did Heresy ever sell figures (2 or 3 sculpts) of crouching/jumping aliens called Lurkers or Leapers?

They did and they were awesome. However, as I recall Andy said they gobbled through the moulds like no one's business so he put them on a hiatus while he did other things, meaning to resculpt them in a slightly more mould-friendly fashion. I suspect other things have intruded on that plan.

I don't think there are any roaming the wilds these days either.  I think they are held pretty tightly.

I was gutted that I could never get a hold of any. I always put off buying them because of other nice monsters available at Heresy.

8::: I was unenlightened of Heresy at the time.

The morale of the story is never put off buying things from Heresy. ;)

Seriously, though, they'll be back. Intending to do them before the year is out.

*Beefcake rubs his hands with glee*
So will they be complete resculpts or just modified?

Thanks for the replies.

I couldn't see them in the online store and thought I was losing my marbles.

I know Andy probably views them as rustic/simplistic but the Lurkers were brilliant because of their simple/rustic nature.

They make great demons but also have a host of potential as super-heroes or dollies for sculpts as well.

I have two of each of the old sculpts and I would say that they are some of my favourite Heresy sculpts. I hope they come back soon because they were certainly worthy of inclusion in the store and made excellent baddies :)

I don't view them like that, but I can't argue with it...

The only reason they aren't on the store is due to them being slightly too difficult to get 100% casts of each time - their claws and tongues would always cause problems in some way or another, usually rounding off at the end or getting premature cooling, so that the ends of the claws would solidify and form a separate mass that would fall off the end of the arms.  Certainly too difficult for Craig, anyway! ;)

If/when you make new ones I'd like to see them quite spindly but still muscular. The poses were great on them too (not a fan of the dangling bits though  )

I would love to see them return as they were but maybe with shorter claws to help the casting process.

(and Andy, I meant no slight... it was reference to the standard of your newer stuff compared to your earlier work which although excellent, couldn't ever be expected to match up exactly due to the time and experience difference between them).

I'm intrigued. Can anybody point me in the direction of pictures of these "oldies but goodies"?

Many thanks Inso; I can see why everyone was getting so excited about their potential return now! Ho.pe the claws don't have to be clipped TOO short though

Warning threadomancy. (Funnily enough autocorrect makes it "warning threads Andy")

I just picked up the leaping and crouched lurkers from fantization. Looking forward to their arrival. I'm assuming these haven't had a look in with the dragon still being a trial?

Wow, I didn't know Steve still had any. Stopped production of those years ago...
Nope, not a look in apart from a few aborted sketches of what I might do with them in plastic for NetherHells...

I was surprised to see them as well. Looks like he has some ferals and demon minions too.
