A Book Lover
« on: June 21, 2012, 09:06:47 PM »
Hi !
A lot of  characters of novel (or even writers) could be very good miniatures and nobody thinks about them ! Everybody knows Alice ou Bilbo, or me ( no,  not me  :hmmm) but there's terrific stuff outside !

I'm sure that the next ones could be very popular and M.White, you are the only one who could do this !

- HP Lovecraft : I mean Lovecraft, not Chtulhu or Ghanatogoa . Lovecraft himself :yup:

- Tristram Shandy : much nicer than the Marquis de Sade, isn't he ?

- Ignatius Reilly : Reincarnation of Don Quixote, living in New Orleans

a french one was missing :woohoo:
- Michel Houellebecq : famous french writer (therefore, all french readers hate him ,"naturellement")

A bientôt !

Maybe Lovecraft would, but no, I don't see the rest shifting.

You are probably right because the customers will always prefer female barbarian than any fat nerd or neurasthenic intellectual.  :blub:
Nevertheless, I still think Ignatius and HP would be good civilians models. It's funny to imagine them against zombis ...isn't it ?
I believe that Kev likes creating non combattant miniatures and those models really miss to the world  (except Houellebecq...it was a joke   )

Maybe Lovecraft would,
Sure it will ! :boing:

I can see them selling simply as generic investigator figures.
But I can't see them selling in high numbers as known characters for one simple reason: no one knows who hey are.

I wouldn't consider any of the other ones, but I know I'd *definitely* buy a good Lovecraft sculpt!

Just discovered Black Cat Bases have recently added 28mm castings of Lovecraft and Charles Fort with a variety of items on separate sprues for their right hands. They're available singly or as a matched pair, with different sprue combinations.  Lovecraft is cast with a cat rubbing his leg. Lovecraft seems OK - I'd have liked some photos from different angles to be sure - but I can see Fort fitted out with a still-smoking .45 having decided his List of Anomalies needed trimming...

You can find them on the New Products page 2 today (9th August) at:

http://blackcatbases.com/index.php?main_page=products_new&disp_order=6&page=2 .

Thanks Guivre !

I didn't know Charles Fort.  I've just read his bibliography on Wikipedia.

I will probably buy HP.  :D

Got my Black Cat order at the weekend, and the Lovecraft casting is better than the photos online suggest. I do like the Fort figure though as well, and succumbed to the matched pair!

Worth getting an order off before too long, as the BCB summer sale (20% off all figures) runs till September 10th, I think.
