Yeah. my photos are fairly awful. I'd be happy with Kev and Sally making the choices regardless of any other considerations. After all; it's their company.

Got mine in!  I kept thinking I was finished, then checked the entry criteria and realized I'd got them wrong again.  It was a real struggle getting decent pics that would fit in an 800x800px frame, including the ruler, with all four faces, at 72dpi.  I think I got it right in the end, though.

Here she is:

It's a shame you don't know a photographer.  :erm:

I had to skip the ruler as I don't actually own one with the markings left on >.>

Still finishing the rifle on my second entry. Hopefully it'll be done and photographed by the deadline.

Edit - That was tricky to scale them down and keep them looking sharp, but here it is.

I had real problems getting a ruler upright in a shot with natural lighting! Ended up sort of...wedging the miniature and ruler into part of a window frame, and sticking a piece of paper behind to keep the autofocus working. Suffice it to say, I think my side/back shots fared rather better!

Still, entry set yesterday evening - can't wait to see what everyone's come up with.

It started off as Death.. Ended up being what I think looks like a stressed business woman. I've never converted or sculpted in this scale before, so I know it's fairly pants. I just thought I'd try.

Well finished at least but faffing about with the camera and paint shop took me till 00:15am... If nothing else I hate green stuff a little less and will put in some practice before the next one which I will probably not be working on up till 11:50pm on the deadline day.  :(

Well guess you got lucky this time Inso...

Edit: Might as well post a pic here, practicing camera skills for the next one seems a good idea and a recurring theme.  :silly

Sorry I've missed the deadline with this! If because of that its not considered that's no biggy :)

I would have liked to do more with it but I just haven't had the time.

Category... Modern.

Her name is Elizabeth, and by necessity she is a bad*ss zombie/demon/cthulu monster hunter.

Or something.

Finished my second entry - a Wild West/Steampunk cowgirl I call Sienna, and her bulldog Paco.

Just after 9 my time zone and I sent pics just now. Does the competition close at midnight GMT or is is by time zones ?

I guess I should put my pics up too. My camera work and photoshopping skills are quite sub-par but here they are anyway.

Harryhausen inspired Gorgon (almost wrote Grogan there) FANTASY

Head crab Victim (meant to be lying down but photographed line this for casting purposes) SCI-FI

I sent my entry in about a day or two ago.

Looking through this there are so many cool things. I have no idea which I'll vote for, but I'm happy to get metal versions of mine and of the winners, now I wish I had entered all three categories.

Sent my pics in the other day. Missed some of the criteria of the pics such as the ruler. Hope these still work.

I was planning a fantasy one but didn't have the time.

Loving all the entries, crossing my fingers for my one, was a bit of a sod getting it to 72dpi, had to grab a free trial of photoshop! First time I've actually entered a competition like this though so to even get it finished was satisfying.

Also first post for the forum, so hello chaps! Though I've been getting mini's from hasslefree and heresy for a while.

Welcome! I'm most excited to have a minature cast up, So curently my fingers are crossed that all my entrys are accepted!

I wish that people organised sculpting gatherings. I bet that I would improve leaps and bounds just from absorbing all the techniques people make up in isolation.

First poster here as well. I do not know where I read about the contest, but when I did, I just had to give it a shot. I'm not one for blogging progress; when I'm focussed on doing stuff, I tend to forget to take a break and some pictures every now and then. Speaking of which; as you might guess, I'm certainly no photographer. In fact, I later took an extra picture, not with my camera, but with my phone, no setup other than my desklamp bent a bit lower and it turned out many times better than with all those extra lights, borrowed camera etc. Go figure eh...

So, without further blabbering, here is the result of Daeothar mashing at putty with assorted tools. She's called Nurse Sylvia and I aimed to make her fit into the Modern / Adventurers range:

And I thought 'Stop whining and take it like a man' would be a suitable tagline for her...
When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep. Not screaming, like the passengers in his car...
