I know that this is a question that has been asked before on Facebook but I just can't find it any more - so for us non-UK'ers (or anybody really): Do the entries have to be at the yet-to-be-disclosed adress by October 1st or does the postage stamp have to by any date before October 1st?

Thanks very much.

As far as I'm aware we will only have to have submitted photo's of the final piece by that date.

Now that would be pretty amazing in the way that I might be able to finish something until then. ;) Thanks for the info, Internalclock!

There hasn't been any info posted.

I have PM'd Sally but have not had a reply. I am sure it is because of the HUGE stuff that is going on in the White household at the moment.

Patience is the order of the day.  I am sure that if the deadline passes it will not be a problem and photo requirements etc will be posted.

Chill out and all will be revealed in good time, I am sure.

Oh yes, definately. I'm just relieved that we only have to send photos until the 1st of October and the mini doesn't have to be there in person by the 1st. ;)

Have a question which just occured to me actually...

So as most us have probably found, greenstuff is a pain to photograph. Is there any problem with undercoating/priming the finished piece for better photography?

I was thinking either undercoat and drybrush or just wash with something to show the depth of the piece.

So, does that cause problems for moulding etc?

No you can't add paint. If you add paint it won't be castable.

We all have the same problem photographing our greens so you aren't alone :).

Bum.

Thanks for clarifying that Inso, I was going to spray them all tomorrow so... yeah. Change of plans time! I'll just stick up some piccy's in the WiP thread, because I'm done now methinks. Hopes. Prays.

I think the pics are just to clarify you have finished one and are going to send it in within the specified timeframe. I imagine judging will be done when the miniatures are actually in hand, otherwise it would not only be a competition of sculpting but also photography skills. :)
I'll be looking forward to seeing what everyone has come up with.

I think it was also so they can tell us if what we have created isn't castable so it would be a waste to send it in as they cant send it back. Though I would have hoped that they would say something in a WIP thred. I'd be willing to send postage to get greens back :P I'm still in the stage where every sculpt is special to me

This is my very first sculpt, so yes, precious to me too! I've learned so much doing it through. Probably the most important lesson I've learned is never sculpt when there's a rampant kitten on the loose.

I have the same trouble with a kitten  :lmao:

It is doubtful if you will get your greens back (they will likely be damaged in the mould) and if I recall, you sign the greens over to Kev when you send them... so they become his property.

I'd have to double check that but he is casting them so it makes sense for him to keep the greens.

I was only talking about greens that they decide wont work for the type of casting they are doing. I have a funny feeling that my 4th entry is too extreame a pose for single piece casting. I also think it is my best peice to date :D

If the green doesn't look like it will be castable, Kev will most likely contact individuals once the finished pix have been sent to him (at a time and place yet to be determined) to talk about what can be done. If they are just 'not viable' I would suggest that there will be no point in sending the green to be cast unless Kev is so impressed with it that he wants to adapt it and work overtime to get it in a mould.

Multi-part has been done in the past... put single part is always the prefered option.

I don't know if this is a good sign or a bad sign but I dreampt about this comp last night. For some reason all the enterants were gathered at the beach and there were trophies handed out that were blocks of different coloured  cured Kneadite on plinths. I even got one! but the tide came in and all the entrys were washed out to sea. I was frantically trying to grab at them before they were lost...... That's All I can remember.

Okay, here we go!

Closing date 1st October 2012.
Images need to be emailed to picturesAThasslefreeminiaturesDOTcoDOTuk by the end of that day.

Image specifications:
1: Max dimensions 72dpi. 800 pixels x 800 pixels.
2: Images should be a composite of one front shot, one back shot plus sideways from both sides.
3: The front shot should contain a ruler as a scale guide.
4: You need to say what category it is entered in

what would be nice but not compulsory is a brief explanation of where you see it fitting into the HF range and the reason you sculpted it including what you made it from etc.

Up to 2 weeks after the closing date we will publish all of the pics online and set up a facility for voting.

Do not send your figures over yet!
