WIP Sulaco floor tiles
« on: January 18, 2012, 10:41:18 AM »
Another project that's been ongoing for years finally gets another dusting off and moves towards completion/availability!

Grainy camera phone pics only at the moment, and only part of the planned final kit(s), but hopefully these shots will give a flavour of what's due.

Based around a 40mm square grid that matches our Sulaco base range, designed to allow fitting of small rare-earth magnets for those that want/need them, and with complementary doors, objective markers, and terrain features all available separately, these will hopefully fill a need for Insert generic SF game/boardgame Here -style gaming of all sorts  :paranoid2:

First test casts - 10 different 1 x 1 corridor tiles, and 5 different 1 x 1 end caps. Bloody awful photo as camera battery is just about to die and don't have enough charge left to take another  :tantrum:

Lovely, would be good to buy a base that 2 or 4 of these fit into, looking at the pics it might be tricky as you've got a blank edge to them...

2 x 2 room and/or corridor section should probably suit, Matt....they still have the wall thickness/edge but would work as a display base for dioramas....Failing that I'd be happy to machine down relevant pieces as a custom order....

EDIT in fact, 2 of the 1x1 end caps placed edge to edge would make a 2 x 1 base with a consistent surround to the whole thing....likewise for the 2x1 end caps that will go into rubber later this week...

Cool, I just ordered some of these funky Ark bases too. Don't suppose you've got a crashed UFO?  :D

Fuzzy pic of the approximate contents of the Sulaco tile starter set here at last....

52 pieces, 2.5 kilos of resin....rooms and endcaps are all unique, corridors and junctions all feature some doubles. Single squares are a set of 5 from a pool of 10 pieces.

All pieces will also be available as separate small sets (eg. set of 3 2x1 corridors) so you can add to the basic set or build up your own custom set a piece at a time if your budget won't stretch to a full set.

And there are more rooms, junctions, wider corridors etc all WIP as expansion sets down the line.

Then it's onto the objective markers and walls..... :)

Any plans for larger rooms, I know space hulk only had 3x3 rooms but I always thought a larger room would be cool.
Those walls look great. Makes it look a whole lot more realistic.

Yup - already on the drawing board. Aiming for modular partial room sections so you can build vehicle hangars, med bays, etc....

This is all looking pretty fab Ian

How do the doors fit in when the rooms and corridors are all 3d'd up? Are they placed between the two? Or is there a slot to put them in?
