Information / Addresses
« on: March 17, 2009, 01:30:38 PM »
Recently we have had a number of orders returned by various countries postal systems because the addresses are wrong.
We dont handwrite the labels, they are printed out on a Dymo labelwriter and all we do is copy and paste the addresses from the order forms.  So if you enter your address incorrectly the parcel comes back to us.

This is annoying because we get snotty emails from you guys wondering where your order is and then this is what we have to do:
1:If the email comes through late at night when we are checking the inbox before bed we send you an email telling you we will look in the morning.
2:  In the morning we then have to make a point of going through the online inboxes to check if the order has arrived and cross-referencing with the back-up inboxes.
3:  If the order is noted as arrived by credit card then we go through to point 4.   If the order is a Paypal one we have to check that it has been invoiced correctly, check the Paypal server to make sure the invoice has left them (sometimes they lost them) and whether it has been paid or not.  Once we have verified it has been paid we move onto 4
4:  Using the address details for country region (UK, EU, Non-EU) we have to manually go through the filed orders for the period since the order was placed to check it has left us.
5:  Once we know it has left we email you with the date and the postal method and ask you to confirm the address that it has gone to.

If the address is confirmed as correct then we wait a bit longer for it to arrive and all is usually fine.  However the problems arise if the order hasnt been addressed properly, hence the title of this posting.

Up until now we have re-sent the orders out with the amended address for no extra charge but from today this is going to change.  If you dont put the correct address on your order form and the order gets returned to us you will have to pay for the extra postage to send it out again.    If you decide you dont want to pay the extra postage then we are quite happy to refund back the cost of your figures minus shipping and any packaging/admin/paypal/credit card charges from the order processing.

I know this sounds petty but i re-sent out 11 parcels last week to a variety of destinations with a postal charge of just under 60.  I know this doesnt sound a lot but if you add into this the extra admin charges for Kate to go hunting for orders and the time emailing back and forward, it is a lot to us....and it is straight off our net profit which is what goes towards new figures and also Kates time isnt then spent sending out new orders that have arrived so they are delayed as well.

If you pay by Paypal make sure the delivery address is correct, quite a few Paypal orders get sent back because people have moved and forgotten to change their default address settings to the new address.

It takes a few seconds to check your details so please do it! ... i hate nagging!

Information / What is a typical HF customer.
« on: December 17, 2008, 01:20:05 PM »
A Hasslefree Miniatures request for some help.

Basically how, what, where and why!...lol!

Just a bit of market research please guys if that is okay.  You dont have to reply to everything.

Up until January 2007 i could tell you the generalisation of a typical HF customer but this year has been so manic that it is one thing that i have taken my eye off so am politely requesting your help.

Why am i being so nosey?  Obviously because i need to make sure that for HF to survive in the current UK economic climate I need to make sure that things are tailored not for the masses as some larger companies do but to make sure we keep as many people happy as possible.  2009 is going to be hard for everyone and i want to make sure i keep at least 2 steps ahead as i dont want to finish the year with my business gone and my kids homeless!

A few simple questions just for you to consider and also to add any more info that you think may help.

1:  painter/gamer/collector/sculptor ?

2:   under 21/21 - 45, 45+

3:  male/female

4:   Looking for cute chicks/ conversion bits/ soldiers / something nobody else makes

5:   UK/ Eu/ Non-Eu

6:   Generally buy from a retailer / prefer manufacturer

7: how long bought HF?..... less than 1 yr, 2yrs, 3 yrs, 4 yrs+

8:   Found through recommendation / search engine

9:  Anything we could do better/ anything you think we are doing drastically wrong/ what you think we do so well that makes us better than anyone else?

10: Any other comments?

Thanks lots

Sally :)

PS:  If you dont want to give info out on open forum just PM me or email me, thanks

Libertee's Miscellaneous Musings II / things that really p** you off
« on: November 05, 2007, 11:31:52 PM »
now it never bothered me before i had kids but now.............

Fireworks, specifically fireworks outside my kids bedroom windows when they have just gone to bed, even more specifically fireworks that keep Luke awake for hours which means i have to stay up later to work to 'catch up' as i have spent a few extra hours settling him.  I wouldnt mind but we live in the middle of a residential area with loads of young children so youw ould think they would be a bit more responsible.........nooooooooooo

add to this mix a really stressed out pooch who needs to be drugged this time of the year or she will give herself a heart attack stressing out with the noise and you get a really f****d off Sally.

'White Metal' / What this board is about
« on: August 11, 2007, 09:40:00 PM »
Just what is says on the front page!....lol!

My inbox is busy with submissions for 'White Metal' and the most common question i get asked is "do you think it has promise".  I thought rather then just me replying that i would start a board for members in general to answer posters queries.

As this project is still so new there arent really any groundrules established yet.  What i want to achieve here is for those who have emailed me with work to be able to post it here for feedback with regard to how it interests you guys.  It is NOT a place for you to slam unneccessarily another persons skills or talents but a place where we want you to be honest but fair.  Dont make me get all cross with you as i know you are generally a really fair bunch on here.

We are taking a risk on a lot of the 'WM' sculpts but so far the risks seems to have worked out and our budget is completely empty until later in the year...but however that does not mean we arent on the lookout continually for sculpts to purchase when cash allows.  Hopefully here we can get some activity going with regard to finding out the diversity of both skills available and customers 'wants' lists.

Does that make sense?...........expect me to edit this a few times as the baby keeps kicking everytime i try to get my words out!

Sally :)

PS, if you are new to HF then check out 'White Metal' here   http://www.hasslefreeminiatures.co.uk/whitemetal.php

Announcements and News / Meet Queen Taxxis and her undead troll 'Deth'
« on: September 14, 2006, 01:31:57 PM »
A couple of people came up with the same suggestions on different forums so i will sort out
who did it first later but it made us laugh so we thought it fitted well with the HF naming
quirkiness.

"Riding her undead troll 'Deth',  Queen Taxxis (known for her merciless slaying of many a man
and the destroying of their homes and businesses) is bewitching and sly as she plots and plans
the destruction of all those around her.  She is stealthy and steadfast, fooling many a person
with her demanding and relentless pursuit of all their wealth and eventually only settling for
their souls."

2:  Jpeg format is preferable please.

3:  Thumbnail needs to be 100 x 100 pixels

Libertee's Miscellaneous Musings II / M.E. ....What it means
« on: May 09, 2005, 10:29:02 AM »
Alright, i get asked quite a lot what the 'M.E.' thing is that i suffer from and how it affects me so i thought that i would let u all know.

M.E or PVFS (post viral fatigue syndrome)or in USA it is known as CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome) is a long term condition which invades every part of your body.

Basically i got three very severe infections in 1996 starting off with meningitis and ending up with glandular fever.  I never really quite got well from these and was diagnosed as M.E in January 1997.  My body still shows a reaction to 'Epstein barr virus.

Some days are good and i can function well, some days are bad and i cant function at all.

How it affects me:

1:  My whole body aches and if it is bad i walk like an arthritic 90 yr old.  even if the day starts well by 4pm my body starts to seize up.  This is really annoying as the kids are home from school and i find it hard to cope with them.  If i make the mistake of sitting on  the sofa for an hour to watch tv in the evening then i am there for the rest of the night as i cant physically move.  I get random pains in my bones, muscles and joints which the painkillers cant touch.

2:  Some days my hands or feet dont work.  This means i may drop my juice or fall over a lot as when i go to step forward as my foot just 'isnt there'..I broke a rib in the autumn when i fell and have fractured other bones over the years.  Imagine very bad pins and needles but without the pain.  On days my hands dont work then i cant work the keyboard or fill orders or do anything really without it taking me 5 times as long.  I also lose spatial awareness and walk into cupboards and doors.

3:  Exhaustion.  Not just being tired but complete exhaustion where you cant even think and all you can do is lay down and sleep.  I go to bed most afternoons whilst the kids are at school and this is why Meg goes to a childminder 4 days per week during school hours.  Before i met Kev i used to just not get out of bed for days but with small children you just dont have that luxury, you just have to get up and get on with it.

4:  Cant think.  Some days i cant cope with answering even basic questions like "tea or coffee ?".  My brain just switches off.  Sometimes i have to keep asking Kev what day it is.  I 'flit' from various tasks as i forget what it is that i was supposed to be doing.

5: Nausea.  Like being on a permanent hangover.  If i dont eat every hour or so i feel nauseous.

6: Depression.  This has arisen due to all of the above.  It can be so frustrating even after all these years to be unable to accomplish even a percentage of what i used to.  I get very  annoyed with the fact that i am so incapacitated and my body doesnt listen to the instructions that i give it..  I feel bad that i cant do many things with the kids when i am tired.  Sometimes even listening to them read isnt possible.  Somedays all i can do is sit and cry or stare out of a window.

7:  The medication that i am on has horrible side effects but it does mean that i can partly function.  The steroids have made me put on a lot of weight which doesnt help.  I am also on Anti-inflammatories, strong painkillers, Anti-emetics (cut down on the nausea) and various other bits and pieces.

8: You would think that with all of the above that i wouldnt have a problem sleeping..........well that is where you would be wrong as anyone with  small children will tell you!!.....lol....getting into bed doesnt necessarily mean you will get to sleep!

If you ever meet me you would never guess all of the above as i an very practised at  'just getting on with it' and on a short-term basis I am able to override my bodys desire to just curl up and sleep.  Unfortunately this is like living on borrowed energy and my body lets me do it for a certain time ( like Salute) and then it claims it back with a vengeance and I 'shut down'......this is what happens for about 2 weeks following shows.

So if my pc is quiet for a while then you know what is going on.  Or if i take a while to answer an email.  Generally i am quiet about the time of the new releases as these take a lot of my energy.  Also if i am bad then Kev has to do more around the house and then falls behind with his work.  The knock-on effect to this is that sometimes the greens are late going to the caster and the releases are delayed a few days.

Most of the time we permanently play 'catch-up' which is why we are happy to let HF grow in its own pace rather than continually plug for new sales outlets.

So dont worry!...we have got this far and arent planning on disappearing, i just thought that if i let you know a bit about the condition that you would all stop worrying when i disappear for a few days at a time!

Sally :)
