I'll be needing a crab claw.
To keep this fairly cheap (and a bit more lighter than a solid putty claw would be), I'll be sculpting the claw around a core made out of  aluminium foil & wire.

1 crab claw core - aluminium foil & wire
2 Fimo & Uro polymer clay (green), Milliput standard (grey & yellow)
3 big putty ball

Mixed the polymer clay + the Milliput and covered the core with the mixture. No need to be super neat and accurate.

initial layer in place

After about an hour or so, the putty has cured a bit and I've started refining the shape a bit.

roughly shaped crab claw

Will let the claw cure over night, and hopefully can start proper sculpting tomorrow.

Is the appropriate place to order these from the USA?
Yup, unless you want the bust. The great thing (besides the minis obviously) about the Ral Partha shop is that you can get an estimation for the shipping costs without having to register/log in etc.

Figured I should post a pic to prove I'm actually doing something. Please ignore the mess in the background, was too lazy to dig out something that could be used as background.

it's more that occasionally it looks so forced and/ or random.

Yeah, that's the TL:DR version of what I'm trying to say.  :silly

Having just seen the 'The women of "The world of For-Ha"' arse spider render, the Kingdom Death stuff suddenly looks a bit less forced. scroll down if you really want to see the pic- it's called 'Beautiful Hunter', but I find arse spider to be a far more fitting name as it's mainly giant buttocks with spider legs (featuring high heels on some of those) and a roughly human looking torso.

Ooh, haven't seen one of the trolls painted in quite a while.

I only just now noticed I forgot to add a ''-'' to the initial post...

Good to see you managed to resolve your photobucket problems.

Why does your clock say DIE?
It's a very misanthropic alarm clock that used to be a grumpy undertaker and a generally unpleasant person in a former life. After a freak accident involving an exploding coffin, King Karma decided to treat the dirty old man to another spin on the wheel of life...

The truth is a wee bit more boring - Dienstag means Tuesday in German and DIE is simply the abbreviation of Dienstag.

initial sketch, position of the eyes will most likely change a fair bit and even the crab like thing might end up being something completely different:

starting pic (again):

Time to play with pliers, putty & plastic card.

This isn't going to end well- big guy'll have his knee caps smashed to splinters in just a few seconds. Probably shouldn't have eaten Radioactive Gobbo's girlfriend...

Nice bit of painting. Love the bright glowy green on the angry little one.

Other Mini's, RPGS, Etc / Re: Kingdom Death: What's the big screaming deal?
« on: September 26, 2013, 10:48:30 AM »
Kingdom Death is a bit of a mixed bag- there's some minis that are quite good, some look a bit like someone took a finished green, dabbed on some glue and dunked the mini into a tupper box full of tits and cocks. I actually don't mind them being mildly immature, it's more that occasionally it looks so forced and/ or random.
I do like their Gorm mini (though I wish it was a bit smaller and cheaper), but then I've always had a soft spot for monsters with hands/ arms attached to their faces.

Maybe give them orange soles? Would fit in with the paint scheme.

clicked 'post' before I had finished writing the post
... and forgot the word post in the edit. Off to bed now.

Seeing as I dumped this and ran off crying into my boots...

Am I allowed to join in or am I banished?
If you want to enter something then do that- more entries, more fun.

It's September the 24th and thus the UNDOD has started- the thread for the start pics can be found here:

The time has come - dust off the brushes and tools and start painting & building your entry!

Almost. Can't decide on the last mini.

Too awesome for words. Did you sculpt it as well, then?
No- it's available from Fenris:!/~/product/category=2425297&id=12761660

I see someone else had brought a demon-based heroquest style game to Kickstarter. My own fault for banging on about my ideas for 7 years and not getting them out there as an actual game...! :whip:
There's at least two more- Claustrophobia (, rooted in the HellDorado background and Inferno, though that had maps and 3 d cardboard scenery ( and there was the Diablo II/ D&D thingy.

One thing I'd like to see would be something like bigger (and somewhat sillier) Blights/ Blight Hulks/ whatever- three bodies + heads, couple of arm options and two or three sets of legs. Though I guess that's a bit too silly for most people?

We certainly could do with more Sleiti.

(...) (Also I am pushing for it to not actually 'be' Grymn related any more and to shift plans for their bikes to a wheeled variety so people in the future may have 2 different bike styles to choose from)
Give it to the Bohkin then. Poor little things never get any goodies, not even new/ more minis of their own kind...

UNDOD 2013 / Re: UnDoD 2013 rules - Pick on Someone Your own Size
« on: September 17, 2013, 05:10:49 PM »
I have been planning my uDoD2013 submission, and I have a question about the rules.

They state "There are no size restrictions for the bases- if you want to build a kitchen table sized diorama displaying the hidden beauties of  Rustwood Fortress or somehow manage to pile 8 miniatures onto a 25mm base then do that- anything goes. Just remember that bigger doesn't always mean better!"

Am I allowed to make a single entry that is on two bases? They do not need to be physically connected, but they do tell two different parts of the same story. I would want this to be judged as a single entry!
I'd say if you manage to connect them somehow, even if it's just a visual connection, then yes. E.g. as Inso says, use a clear plastic base.
Or maybe photograph them against the same background - e.g. put them on black boxes, drape black cloth over something in the background and use a piece of cardboard with comic panels drawn onto it and cut out, into which the minis would fit and attach that to the black cloth so that on a picture it would look like a page out of a comic book. (Not sure that I explained that well.)
Or insert a mirror/ piece of sturdy plastic card as separator, attach a sign reading something like 'meanwhile on the other side of the galaxy' to it, that way on one side you could place the horizontal one and on the other the vertical part of your diorama without worrying about levels etc.
Or insist that 'base' in this particular case has to be treated as a somewhat allegorical thingy and not as solid object, as they're both based in the same story... In other words- have fun and don't worry too much.

I guess these would be roughly human sized and smaller minis for the main game while bigger ones like Ogres and xxl stuff like Netherlords would go into themed expansions (aka add ons)?
The Dragon speaks the truth- concentrate on the dungeon dwellers instead of the heroes. Maybe have the heroes as an add on- extra sprue with customizable heroes & henchmen (different heads, weapons, bags/ equipment and looted stuff) with a slot that could be filled with either an adventuring Ogre or a smaller beast of burden.

As for suggestions: some beastmen, but not just the goaty variety. Wasn't there (long ago) a discussion somewhere that the further down into the dungeon people would go, the more humanoid the Ferals would appear- I seem to remember something about trying to fuse the classic goat look with something more apelike in appearance as some of the Netherlords like to experiment a bit?
