A female Skeletor, perhaps? Possibly even a male Teela and Evil-Lyn (Evil-Tim, of course!)?

Thanks for all the advice. Plenty of food for thought :)

There'll be another update sometime late next week. I've been a bit distracted with other, more boring stuff (and Blood Bowl...) and I need to get myself some more paint.

I'm painting the HQ barbarian up with blond hair, too, and brown furry pants and boots, which is as close to He-Man as I can get given that it can't be converted to have the cross-chest leatherman thingy due to the pose.

Are Dwarfs a good gang for a first-time Mordheimer? I may be joining a campaign soon-ish and I'm not sure what to play.

Mould line trouble? I don't spray undercoat, but I give all the figures I paint two mist coats (thinned paint). The first coat is always white and primarily to show up any mould lines I have missed so I can remedy before painting. It can also have the benefit of filling any shallow gaps where slippage can occur during the moulding process.
This is my preferred method, and it works for me.

Hmmm, that sounds interesting. I'll give it a go with the next lot of new minis I paint.

You don't say what tools you are using? A set of needle files are good investment, and I utilise emery cloth and few riffler files for the awkward to get to parts. [snip] We all start somewhere, and miniature painting is like any skill - the more you do it, the better you get - as long as you enjoy the experience.

I've got a 10a/3 scalpel and a set of needle files, I'm just a bit impatient, really. Well, and easily distracted. As for the painting, I've been doing it on and off since 93, but in all honesty it's been a lot more "off" than "on". I enjoy it, but I tend to go through phases of hobbying, mainly because I've got long term depression and I find it difficult to keep my motivation up at the best of times, and at the worst of times I can't believe that I'm any good at anything so I may as well not finish it.

ahem...that's the end of Overshare Weekly. Long story short, I've never had as much practise as I would like to have had.

Anyway, I've sorted the mold lines out on Heyu (and it turns out I didn't quite get shot of one on Grimdalf, either) and have touched up the paint that came off, so he's ready to start colouring in. I've decided to leave him till last, though, as I want to get Grimdalf done first, since he's in three parts. Here's a pic of Grimdalf so far (and a Chaos sorceror who I couldn't resist painting up as Skeletor).

And now I notice that I forgot to paint the top of his inner robe...brill! *facepalm*

The Blue/Grey robe was three parts Cote d'Arms Marine Blue with two parts Cote d'Arms Shadow Grey. The plan is to do a ver thin Royal Blue wash over that, then highlight it with 1/1 Marine Blue and Shadow Grey, with a final highlight of pure Shadow Grey. This will be my first ever double highlight jobby, so I'm a little nervous!

Skeletor's skin is a 1/1 mix of Citadel Foundation Mordian Blue and Cote d'Arms Marine Blue (although, truth be told, I think I could have just used the Mordian Blue neat, but ne'er mind). The plan here is a Royal Blue wash, first highlight of Marine Blue then a final highlight of 1/1 Marine Blue and Citadel Colour Ice Blue.
His skull is Cote d'Arms Sun Yellow and the plan here is to do a very light wash of green at the edges of the helm in order to (hopefully) mimic the green tinge that the action figure had.
His helm is a simple coat of Cd'A Gun Metal.

I've only been thinning my paints for a couple of years (amount of time spent painting is more like six months, however) and I've a funny feeling I could do with thinning them a little more and perhaps doing a two-stage basecoat step. I think I'll try that on the Insane Man I bought the other week, when I get around to him, and see if there's a difference.

Warzone (...)Were they called "Warhounds"?
Yes. Looks like the mini on the left in this pic.

That's the chap!

Thanks for the help! I had no idea where it was from at all, so that's great! :D

See, this is part of why I hate cleaning mold lines. I make a point of spending three days, on and off, trying to get them all and then I miss one so blatant that I could hang a Christmas stocking off it  :tantrum:

Advice would be good, thank you :)

I do have some questions, but I'll edit them in later, after I've had a sort through my paints.

I'm guessing it's one of "our" Kev's (as the base says "Kev W" and there can't be too many mini sculptors with that name and last inital, surely) and it's from Target, but that's all I know. I got it in a bag of random minis years ago in a gaming shops closing down sale, but I've never been able to find out why it's a barbarian with some sort of poered hammer!

Sorry it's a bit blurry...

I bought Grimdalf and Heyu a few weeks back to paint for my fiance as part of her Christmas present and they've been sat around on my table staring at me since then, so I figured the best way to get them done is to start a painting blog. Given that this forum is friendlier than most places and that the minis in question are from here, I thought here was the perfect place to do it!

Okay, here goes. Got them prepped. I really hate cleaning mold lines and trimming flash, so it was a joy to find that that these two (as well as the other HF minis I bought around the same time) were pretty easy to sort out! Here they are blutac'd onto a shoe box lid ready to spray white.

And a close up of Heyu with a Hero Quest barbarian.

Hopefully tomorrow or Saturday will bring the first post with paint!

I'll warn you now that I'm not very good, so don't go expecting 'Eavy Metal standard or owt.

I am fairly certain thats from the movie; Machette.  What with it being Lindsey Lohan...

Yeah, I didn't recognise her until Dragon pointed it out!

As for Shirley's choice of weapon, do you blame her? Although I bet she didn't count on getting used as an aiming post!

Those all look cool, although the Red Dead Redemption one looks closer to what I was thinking. All roughed up, but with a post-apocalyptic twist.

Dragon, is that first pic from Nude Nuns with Big Guns?
