Doctor Who / Christmas Special 2012
« on: December 29, 2012, 09:03:37 AM »
I really enjoyed it (good balance of scary and funny) and looking forward to seeing more of the new companion!
What did everybody else think?

(sorry if I've missed another thread already discussing this, but I can't find one!)

Twilight / Twilight Sale!
« on: August 26, 2012, 02:44:35 PM »
Sally has just kicked off a big Twilight sale on the Hasslefree site! There are some excellent deals, so its worth a look if you want to stock up on anything. There has been mention of random goodie bags etc, so keep your eyes open, particularly on the Hasslefree facebook page.

Twilight / Sci-fi Twilight?
« on: March 20, 2012, 09:38:18 PM »
I'm just getting a new set of figure ready for sale at salute (and from Hasslefree). The dhogu are a race of mountainous fubarnii who I've done as multipart models. Probably a foolish idea to do them so multipart, but I kinda like how they've turned out.

I've been thinking they might actually work quite nicely in a sci fi setting if I could just sort them out with a sprue of gun arms...

A very neat little solution might be to 'borrow' one of kev's guns (with permission, of course), add an arm and get it cast. So, the big question on here is whether it is a good idea, and what would be the best gun for the little guys? I feel they should have long rifles, but I'm not sure there are any options in that style that would work. I'll probably do a single handed grip to begin with rather than trying to get a two-handed grip. It'll also mean the arm will fit on the yirnak rider.
I doubt I'll actually get these done for salute, but possibly we could come up with some sort of pre-order deal if I get them sculpted in time...

I'll send you a free gun-armed infantry trooper if you come up with the idea I eventually implement! :)

Oh, and here's the Yirnak rider...

Announcements and News / Officer Stalks
« on: December 21, 2011, 08:59:55 PM »
I don't think I've missed any posts about him, but I see Officer Stalks has snuck into the new releases  :D

I sculpted this a few years ago and gave him to Sally as a little thank-you for helping out with getting Twilight up and running. He's spent a while in hiding but it's great to see him on the HF site  :D

Twilight / The Twilight forum has a new home!
« on: May 16, 2010, 11:44:15 AM »
Hi all,

You might have noticed that it's been a little quiet around here for the last week or two. That is because we've just set up a new forum for Twilight over on the World of Twilight page. It's been great here on the Forum of Doom, and it's a real shame to move on, but with all the support we've seen here it seems like the right time to strike out on our own! Andy, Kev and Sally have been great letting me have my own little corner of the FoD and I'm still going to be hanging around the forum to admire all their new figures :D

There are lots of releases planned and Hasslefree are still going to be selling all the Twilight range, so you will get to see all the announcements of new releases both here and on the new forum.

Twilight / FAQ and Errata
« on: January 26, 2010, 10:02:29 PM »
Since publishing the original set of rules I've had one or two typos pointed out to me, and there are a couple of rules that could do with clarification. I'm going to keep this post sticky and use it to present the FAQ. Feel free to ask questions, or suggest additions. I will try to update the downloadable rules where I can, and make it clear here what has been changed.

Leadership/Command Abilities: A model may only use one Leadership Ability per turn.
Activation Abilities: Can only be used once per activation. However, if they require stamina then they may be used multiple times within the same activation, as long as the model has sufficient stamina.
Combat Abilities: Can only be used once per combat. However, if they require stamina then they may be used multiple times within the same combat, as long as the model has sufficient stamina. These may be used any time the model is involved in a combat, even if it is outside the Combat Phase.
Response Abilities: Can be used whenever the requirements for the activation are met.

Both Knight Captains and Knights should be Size: Small.

Twilight / Experimental Rules
« on: April 13, 2009, 11:59:29 AM »
I thought it might be a good idea to start a thread for presenting experimental rules for feedback. The first couple of rules are from the Rulebook, but I appreciate that not everybody has been able to get hold of them yet! The Commander rule has already been tweaked slightly from that presented in the rulebook.
This is also a good place to suggest new rules that you think would be worth trying out!

Experimental Points Scheme:
The following points are intended to give roughly balanced forces, but have not yet been fully tested, so it is likely that some permutations may prove to be highly imbalanced, and that the points need tweaking.

Knight Captain: 100pts
Knight: 25 pts
Militia Captain: 50pts
Militia: 10pts
Trader/Engineer: Free(+)
Baruk: 25pts(+)

Kopa: 200pts(*)
Sempa: 150pts
Grishak: 25pts

+ These models are limited by the rules of the scenario
* You may only ever field one Kopa in a Devanu force

For larger games it will be difficult to activate all the models with the limited number of Activation Counters in the game. In order to cope with this, it will be necessary to add Commanders into the forces.
For the Fubarnii you can promote either the Knight or the Militia Captains into a Commander. For the Devanu it would only be the Kopa who would be the Commander. Using the experimental points system the Commander ability costs 50pts, and the skill is added to the basic profile. It should be noted that a model can only use one Command Ability per turn, so the Fubarnii could use either Captain or Commander each turn.
Commander: This model may activate up to four friendly Elites.

Twilight / Twilight Website goes live
« on: March 23, 2009, 04:11:31 PM »
It's alive!

Tom has been slaving away to get it up and running, but all systems are now go over at

The site will be updated lots in the coming days, weeks and months (painted models, free rules, lots more background), but for the moment it is hopefully a good taster for what is to come...
