Random Chat / Assault rifles
« on: November 14, 2015, 12:19:29 AM »
'Lo all. I was wondering if anyone could tell me the difference between the 'assault rifle #2' and the version the sci-fi troopers have? (Or even post pics?) I'd guess they're about the same size, but I was hoping the former could represent (or be chopped to) a sortuva carbine version.

Ideas for New Heresy Models / Non-dungeoneering Mullet?
« on: July 26, 2013, 03:27:55 PM »
Maybe swinging around a big ol' sword.  It might not be a terribly original theme, but I've been thinking about Conan-based gaming lately, and looking at the Mullet II I bought at Salute.  I thought if there's one place I'd like to get a long-haired mini to represent the quintessential barbarian, it's the shop of the quintessential barbarian sculptor. ;)

(Also, 'flaming torch version' suggests there are others in the pipeline. :P )

Heresy / Gobbos redux
« on: January 25, 2013, 03:15:53 PM »
Anyone remember these?

http://www.cheddarmongers.org/prod/pic/Vermis/Fantasy/Heresy/Gobbos+WIP1.jpg.html

Original limited edition Heresy gobbos, dontcherknow.  I thought I had only the four, but the fifth was hiding in the lead pile.  But apart from painting some furs just after that photo, I haven't done anything with the first four in five years and can't remember at all what I did or used to get them that far.  (There was ghoul grey in there somewhere...)
So, I've ordered the remaining four command & hero gobbos (as you do), and I'm going to strip these and paint all nine together.  Maybe I won't aim so ambitiously this time, and maybe pull the skin colours together a bit.
Should make a nice wee warband.

Competitions / Mini Sculpture 2nd Annual Sculpting Compo 2012
« on: March 01, 2012, 02:15:35 PM »

Mini Sculpture's second annual competition starts today!  You've all got two months to crack open the putty and clay and have a bash at it.  The rules, prizes and discussion topic can be found here.

This year's theme is musicians.  They're not unfamiliar to us wargamers, particularly in the unit command groups of Warhammer Fantasy Battles and similar games.  That already gives a lot of scope in terms of time, nationalities and races.  From Roman cornicines to American Civil War buglers, from haughty elfin trumpeters to scrofulous goatmen beating on ragged hide-drums, and well beyond.  There's also plenty of room for behind-the-lines character pieces, all kinds of entertainers, minstrels, heralds, regimental band members, tin-whistling pixies, orcy rokkas and so on.  Loads of possibilities - have a go!

The Computer Zone / I got a weird phone call today
« on: February 24, 2012, 11:36:59 AM »
Someone claiming to be from Microsoft Technical wossname phoned up and told me she was looking at a report about my computer that was full of viruses, 'shunts', and other assorted nastiness.  So I needed to give her the serial number of my computer.  That sounded odd to begin with.  After a bit of arguing it seemed to switch - she had to give me a serial number.  Then when I questioned that it turned out we had to exchange serial numbers.  Another 'huh?' moment was when I wondered why my antivirus hadn't noticed all this, and was told that it was software, while she was talking about hardware.

Genuine, or big fat scam?  I'm used to spotting emails like this, but it was the first phonecall I've got and it's thrown me.  I think I'll let some scans run later today, anyway.

The Computer Zone / Hotmail blocked

Anyone ever had their hotmail account blocked?  And how long did it take MSN to text you the code to get back in? :?

All my inclination to sculpt fizzled out at the start of October and I only managed to get a bit back during November. (the thought of outstanding commissions helped with that  )  Here's one of the things I've been working on to get the feel for putty back.
