And here we go on another roller coaster ride to the bottom of my pockets!

Started some scenery in prep for it's release :)

hut an vaporator are from the Imperial Terrain 3D printed range of buildings, scatter scenery and extra bling from my Imperial Assault compatible range, it crosses over quite well!

Quick paint jobs on these fellas, (they lend themselves well to minimum colours) as I wanted to die loads of times...I mean play loads of times, can't wait for the rest of the KS to land, these were certainly weird and a bit different from the usual stuff!

Non-FOD minis / Chibi Tanks, planes n ships...sooooooo cute!
« on: September 20, 2017, 10:38:34 PM »
Really enjoyed doing these, got some ships and egg planes incoming too :)

The windows were actually clear but I painted them in for a more cartoony look

The lancy, B17, HE 177 & Tu-2 are all Meng models as well as the Sherman, Tiggy, King and KV2

Thought I had already started a post for this but cant find it so may have not!

Anyhow, nearly finished the first KS stuff, just 3 of the big vehicles to do and then the brilliant big rig, here's brum brums to date..

Needed something to put the marines in their place in my AvP games so I came up with this!

Weaponry is based upon the game description, missile clusters, strafing lasers and Beam weapon

16 inches long, 13 wide, strictly speaking it should be slightly longer than the Marine ship according to official sizes but you start to reach those lengths and gaming becomes impractical and silly so I stuck with around the same size as the existing Marine Gunship, its about 2 1/2 KG of resin as it stands!

Non-FOD minis / Cute Chibi Tanks!

Couple of meng models based on World War Toons. really nice kits and super cute, planning on bringing out the King and KV too so they are defo on my list :)

Perfect for Rivet wars too as you can see, the crew are Rivet plug ins!

Non-FOD minis / GF9 TANKS!

I have managed to swerve things like Flames of War up 'til now as there are way too many cool models and I would just end up throwing money at it so Tanks is a nice halfway house to quench my needs for now :)

really enjoyed doing this stuff!

Allies here, various versions of the Sherman with a Cromwell and Comet thrown in for good measure

UNSC finished...

Time I opened the box and slapped some paints on these fellas!

Wanted to keep that classic high chrome look that is typical of the films so decided to give the chrome hobby spray a go, turned out quite nice! With nothing more than a black wash and a little detail painted in turned out to be some of the easiest painting I have ever done too!

The Hunter Killer was actually a cheap toy I picked up from ebay, once again quick spray with the chrome paint and a little shading with the airbrush (the darker bits were painted gun metal and then washed with black ink) looks the part
The engine pods rotate an the missiles still fire too!

The spider tank is the river horse official game model, really nice looking piece of kit, before assembly I glued a magnet to the inside top of the carapace so now the Hunter Killer can transport it anywhere on the battlefield!

Next up all the resistance stuff, I have managed to pull together 1/48 kits of all the listed available vehicles they can use which includes an Abrams MBT, Bradley, Humvee, utility truck, Blackhawk helo and Apache gunship...this will be fun!

Non-FOD minis / Batman begins...painting!
« on: May 29, 2016, 10:38:46 PM »
Couldn't resist it!

Made a start on the big man himself along with a few gadgets to fill the cave

tumbler is a 1/50 hot wheels toy, batmobile and batpod are the official Knight Miniatures model and 'the bat' was a diagostini collectable, got it nice and cheap because the pods were missing so scratch-built these ;)

Any colour you long as it's black!

Really enjoyed painting this stuff, pleasant change from the mountains of Chibi that I seem to be buried under lately, in fact I enjoyed it so much I purchased the Arkham Asylum building and pretty much every model in the range...the list of stuff to be painted just gets longer!

Non-FOD minis / Alien v Predator...the painting begins.

Figured I better make a start on my AvP stuff, might only be a couple of years before I get the rest of my stuff!

Couple of days work and all the Aliens and Yutani commandos are done, quick airbrush then picked out a few details with the hairy stick. Never been a gloss finish man myself but felt that something on these Little fellas had to take on the classic shiny look so I compromised and glossed the heads, quite a funky look, pleased with it

Chibi Ninjas or Chinjas as I shall call them!

Blue team finished...a bazillion more to do!

Non-FOD minis / Frostgrave stuff!

Only recently discovered this little gem after someone mentioned it to me at a trade show...needless to say bought played and now building scenery!

My usual approach, as modular and customisable as possible because I hate static tables. Started with some rough ruins and a tower, next up probably a mausoleum and a few other scenario uniques :)

I have approached things from a gameplay aspect so walls are nice and chunky so miniatures can stand on top and pitches of roofs etc are shallow to allow figures to climb all over the place. That spot right on top of the ruined battlement? Just big enough for two so someone is going for a bumpy ride if they lose combat!

Again the tower is modular and can be configured in many ways, several different roof tops and just pile em up to have a tiny 1 storey hovel or go for an epic tower of jenga proportions! More accessories to do will include stairways, minarets, etc

Been a looooooooong time since I posted anything 40k related! Not that I haven't done anything, I just have so much on the go I keep forgetting to post!

Anyhoo, commission piece here, generic markings, black and red overall, very nice kit....if a little on the small side ;)

Weapons, head and a couple of small bits done, onto the big pile of resin that makes up the superstructure now!

The rest of the Titan!

Non-FOD minis / Imperial Assault
« on: August 12, 2015, 07:12:26 PM »
Figured it was high time I cracked open that box and splashed some paint on these chaps before they start piling up, will get some better pics when I have painted a few more but for now I started with the usual suspects, the Vaderman himself and his armour clad groupies! Of course, nowadays I cant seem to open a boardgame without wanting to replace all tose boring tiles with 3D stuff so working on some drop scenery to play with too!

Non-FOD minis / Halo Fleet Battles

Well, that's the UNSC done...onto the big purple things!

Really enjoyed painting these, roll on the expansions!

Well, I could hardly NOT buy it could I?!

And then there was that stupid conversation with myself where I said, sure, there is actually NO NEED to repaint anything here its all perfectly fine...yeah, well guess who wasn't listening to himself!

I have stuck with my x-wing mantra here, not strictly what I would class as repaints, just touch ups to bring out the details, so here we go!

Fighters were first under the brush

Quickly followed by the larger ships

destroyer, top half blinged over, bottom half stock, quick and easy and effective at this scale

Sit back and wait for wave 1 now!

Non-FOD minis / Dungeons & Dragons Attack Wing

Let's call it practice for the big one Andy!
Looking forward to playing this sometime soon as it looks different enough from the standard flight path rules to keep things interesting
In the meantime as we all know the usual pre-paints often leave a lot to be desired and while these weren't actually that bad I decided to give them a quick tickle over, nothing major, wouldn't even call them re-paints as I simply worked with  the original colours and highlighted the details, literally about half hour per dragon and now we have something a little more blingy to hit the table top with :)
Looking forward to wave 1 being released in the UK, guess I better get a few more KR cases!

The original starter set dragons pre-bling

After a quick workover

Red Dragon, pretty awesome miniature, just re-positioned the wings with a little hot water, Stock rear, re-paint front

Copper Dragon stock rear, re-paint front

Blue Dragon, again, stock rear, re-paint front

Time to make some scenery me thinks!

General Ranting / Kickstarter lives!
« on: September 21, 2014, 08:39:29 PM »
Kickstarter is a go! That's right, have a little piece of me forever in your home without the need for a costly restraint order when I outlive my welcome! Even if you don't want the space stuff, I can recommend the islands, balance them on your tummy in the bath and pretend you are Neptune punishing unworthy worshippers with a radox storm!

Check it out here ---->

Had this a while now, it a brilliant Napoleonic era ship to ship battle game by Ares.

However the game itself comes with some pathetic little card tokens to represent islands and rocks. well, we couldn't do with that could we so built me some islands and rocks!

The smaller islands to be used as sandbanks (I will probably make some smaller smoother true sand banks in the future)

Some of the larger islands

The more treacherous rocks responsible for sending many sailors down to Davy jones!

One of the 2 largest inhabited islands, good for a HQ or scenario based play

Pincer rock with its Light house

The harbour Island

Tempted, time permitting to build a multipart larger fort island in the future ;)

Figured I better pull my finger out and paint the initial wave one kickstarter releases before the huge pile of wave two models land on my doorstep and bury me alive!

Main box contents Allied forces finished, Blight forces to follow, basically the same unit types and sizes as these..

Rivet wars main game Allied contents

Some close ups of the various units..

9 Riflemen

3 Rocket Cycles

2 Hammer 65 Pounders

Captain W. Parman

M2 Wolverine

MT-1 Ostrich which, as well as the standard configuration, comes with a couple of plug-in turrets, the Hacksaw and General G.Patson!

Cool Toys / Airsoft Minigun Makeover
« on: January 31, 2014, 07:49:25 AM »
Last year I finally acquired my dream airsoft gun, the M134 Minigun. Of course me being me I simply couldn't leave it alone so decided to make it up into something Iconic and the vision that sprang to mind was Blain and his good friend 'Painless' from Predator

The gun is a monster btw, full combat weight with backpack is around 25KG, it can hold 7000 rounds in the belt and fires approx. 80 bb's A SECOND!

Anyhow, onto the build, basically had to design a backpack in the ilk of the predator set-up. purchased an alice frame then built the 'ammo box' to fit around the fuse box and motorcycle battery that this beast uses!

And yeah, I even put together the hat and face mask complete with big bushy Blain tache so you too can be a sexual tyrannosaurus!

if you visit the website there are some WIP pics and a vid of the little fella in action

Despite reading all the whiners comments regarding this game I decided to take the plunge and am really glad.
As many of you know I have built an impressive fleet for X-wing which I play quite often, saying that and being neither a hard-core fan of either genre I actually prefer the atmosphere and thematic gameplay of Attack Wing! It just 'feels' more FUN!

Yeah so maybe the Whizkidz team don't whip those little eastern workers as hard as FFG to create higher quality miniatures but lets be honest, game pieces aren't everything when it comes to a game, indeed some of my favourite and most played classic boardgames have simple wooden blocks for playing pieces

When you take into account these ships represent much larger true scale battleships rather than the fighters of X-wing detail is quite acceptable, all that being said I decided to re-paint them all, mainly just to prove that a little TLC and lining is all that is needed to make these little guys look pretty impressive as game pieces

When it comes to opening up an expansion pack it just 'feels' like your getting much more interesting and varied cards and characters too

Anyhooo! Rant over here we go, starter pack and all the wave one expansions done in a little over one afternoon...

I also dug out some old Xmas tree baubles, sliced them in two and created a few planets to create a little more atmosphere and provide for some interesting scenario play..

So what's next? Well, while I wait to see what wave two has to offer I have a DS9 and classic K7 space station kit incoming (both around 15 inch diameter so a nice game scale) I will update when things happen!

Non-FOD minis / Krosmaster/Super Dungeon Explore 3D scenery and stuff
« on: September 18, 2013, 01:53:25 PM »
Found this game too late to join the kickstarter so I was gutted that I didn't have the bonus of those funky 3d summoned creatures. Lots of fun as games go too!!!

WTF I thought, always wanted to have a crack at a little sculpting and after being inspired by a lot of things I saw on the 'tinternet by fellow Krossers I figured chibi is basically just blobs stuck on blobs, good starting point!

All I had in was plasticine and not wanting to waste any money on the proper sculpting gear I went down the easiest route possible, bonus is I can re-use the plasticine too, more money saved!

Anyhow, these are the said summoned goodies as shown in the rule book

Going for silly prices on ebay, no way I am parting with that sort of Wonga for a few plastic minis!

So here we go, plasticine a go go!

While I was at it I figured I may as well build some 3D scenery too

Castings of summoned creatures ready for a splash of paint!
