Netherhells / Re: Background ramblings

I read the oooold fluff about the setting way back when.

I seem to recall that the 'themes' of the various demonic forces was based around which Netherlord they were servants of - the netherlords having originally been 12 of the 13 Archangels (the 12th was the one who stayed pure, and from whom all paladins get their power). So the more traditional demons presumably follow the more traditionally demonic Netherlords (1 and 2), drawing physical characteristics from their patron. The Blights et al would be, under the old fluff, the servants of the Lord of Flies, or whatever it was he/she was called.

As for the whole Fallen Ones thing - they were supposed to be mortals who excelled in the service of their chosen netherlord patron, and for their service they are granted the form and powers of a demon. The old Dark lord figure was hinted at being a netherlord in human guise, I believe.

I actually quite liked the old fluff with regards to the Angels vs demons bit of the mythology, and how all the races of the world were descended from one of the original archangels, and when 12 of them fell, their offspring mutated from more 'human' forms into ferals and whatnot.

Oh man, I missed it. By the time I found out about it, I had no money left. There goes my shot at a Netherlord.

Still, I'm glad it worked out so well for you Andy, hopefully this is a sign of good things to come! (Though you have an amount of work as a result of this which would absolutely terrify me!)

I freakin' love those mushrooms. Gonna be creating an alien swamp board at some point with those babies in place of trees, methinks.

Dropped a little order. Sadly getting to the point where I have most of the stuff from Heresy that I actually have a use for. But there's still a few things for next payday!

Sounds like a good idea for a mini, and a fitting tribute for one of the true greats of British comedy.

Will do, thanks guys!

Ooh, shiny.

Is this site still running? The homepage message is a little unclear. It was supposed to close after salute, but it appears to still be running...

Hey guys. There were some Spyglass minis I remember being very interested in a while back. They were these weird hunched fellas with spears that had pretty hefty blades on the ends. I forget what they were called... demonic something-or-other. Don't suppose there's any still knocking about anywhere? I remember Heresy used to stock them way back, but I can't find the blighters anymore. Shame, too, as they were really nice sculpts.

I actually really like this. Will be buying it. Love the helmet design, love the gear. And I love that she doesn't have huge... tracts of land! Not all women do. Variety is the spice of life, gentlemen!

I was worried I had misjudged just how broken to make the english there.

I actually thought mine was terrible.

But I am very happy of course that I won! Nice effort from the rest of you. The thread gave me a good chuckle.

Being funny is hard.

I've seen it. The plot was very predictable other than one twist that wasn't of much consequence anyway. The story raised some questions which weren't answered. The acting was okay.

But the special effects and the visuals were stunning. Some cool tech, some very interesting ideas, and decent action sequences to boot.

Payday! Just ordered a bunch of stuff I've been wanting for a while along with some new Sharclons and an Officer. While I wait for those, maybe I should try making a dent in the heap of sci-fi gear I've got from HF and Heresy already...

Congratulations on your 11th year in business Andy. I know you've really struggled at times - but you've got my (and I am sure many others') thanks and respect for keeping Heresy going. Here's hoping for a good 12th year!

I love all of these, new Mullet is great indeed, but I will be buying your officer (thanks for giving him a sealed helmet too!) and a few Sharclons. Hope they sell well enough to get a few extra poses/weapon variants made! Now to wait for money to materialise in my bank account.

How about Betrayal.

Lots of potential there in almost any setting. Could be the wizard that summons a demon to destroy his adventuring companions - after they take him to the Orb Of Omnipotence. Could be the Supersoldier who lets the aliens into the Human base so he can finally be free from duty. It could be the Halfling that ate all the pies. The Dwarf that left his friends to pay the bill at the tavern. The Survivor who locked his friends out of the Safehouse. Or perhaps something even more abstract. It's a concept that can be interpreted and communicated in a lot of different ways.

I think it has potential. Though working it into a single miniature would require some creative thinking.

Does this mean you're making progress on the tin fund?

Hasslefree Babble / Latest Hasslefree Minis
« on: November 17, 2012, 07:26:08 PM »
So my order of minis turned up today while I was at work. I do love coming back from a rubbish shift to find goodies waiting for me! It was... Every sci-fi human I could find currently available in the HF store. Over the next week they'll be getting assembled and at the very least undercoated. Eventually they'll be battling across the many strangely similar-looking (only have one board!) worlds of the vast cosmos against my Heresy troopers and Black Scorpion aliens.

Just wanted to say thanks for the awesome minis, the very effective packing materials (I hate getting damaged toys), and the sweeties. Not sure if they're supposed to be sour, but I eat lemons so my tastebuds are a bit jaded these days!

Sneak Peeks / Re: WIP Heresy Plastics Project
« on: November 10, 2012, 12:18:08 AM »
Heya Andy, I love the current troopers, and I'm excited to see them done in plastic, but I really like the Doom/Halo look to my sci-fi infantry. Will these guys eventually be done with the alternate enclosed helmets? If not, I'll probably buy some anyway, I'll just have to convert 'em. :P

I've seen it. Flawed, but not awful. There was some solid acting and some interesting ideas, but the plot felt a bit rushed for what it was.

Special effects were amazing, too. Didn't see it in 3D though, so can't comment on that.

Ideas for New Heresy Models / Expanding the sci-fi troopers?
« on: July 31, 2011, 11:56:43 PM »
Personally, I flippin' love the troopers, I have eight waiting to be assembled and painted, and have to keep stopping myself from buying more til they're done. I love the faceplates, the armour, the rifles, everything. They're awesomesauce on toast.

What'd really be great (IMO) is if you expanded them with some specialists. Obvious choices would be heavy weapons, snipers, medics, etc. Also wouldn't be bad to see some kind of psi-troopers? And how about a new version of the Major with armour to match the troopers? I know I already plan on using my Major as an officer in games, and I reckon you could make a little army range out of the troopers with just a few specialist units.

Of course, I come prepared with numerous ideas as to how these might be represented more interestingly than mere arm-swaps.

So for example, special weapons could be plasma guns, missile launchers, flamethrowers, heavy machine-guns, or sniper rifles, among others. Along with special weapons, perhaps each member has armour modules designed to enhance their effectiveness with their chosen armament?

For example, scopes attached to the faceplate of snipers, additional ammo storage on the back for heavy machine-gunners (maybe even belt-fed ;) ) Perhaps a plasma gunner would have coolant tanks on their backs, and maybe increased armour to protect them in the case of an overheat etc?

A psychic trooper presents plenty of great modelling possibilities. Not only do you have the option to have all kinds of weird poses (telekinetic levitation, f.x.), but what kind of additional paraphernalia would a psi-trooper carry to complement their abilities? Would they maybe have a modified helmet with cables coming from the back, respresenting cranial modifications? Maybe they carry different armament too, possibly even some kind of device that they can channel their powers through (melee or ranged)?

Here's a few images for inspiration: - Sniper armour mods? - The guy in the red may give some reinforced armour ideas? - I was always quite partial to this plasma gun design. Maybe it'll give you some new non-GW ideas to spark your own creativity?

Any other suggestions for the troopers from anyone else? This is just what occurred to me in the space of about twenty minutes.

I thought he was talking about discussing the formula for Ed's new plastic stuff with him, in the hopes of negotiating a deal whereby Heresy get let in on the secret.

I think the logistics of having products cast across the ocean would be a bit of a headache, but then again, I don't know much about this sort of thing.

Lookin' good, Andy! I like it, and I hope this helps the business a lot.

EDIT: Oh. My. God.

You have Korg on here! Expect another order from me very soon!

I agree with you, but I'm still looking forward to this movie coming out.

Don't get me wrong, so am I.  I loved the previous LotR movies, and I have always enjoyed the Hobbit book. Seeing it in film at last makes everything feel more complete.
