That was me, it's a fun re-theme.

It sounded like it.  I've not looked at Dungeon Saga.

Actually, thinking back - wasn't someone thinking about a spacehulk-esque barbarians vs dwarves game where the dwarves were trying to take back their dwarf fortress from the occupying barbarians?

Looks good doesn't it - to be expected given their previous ks campaigns.

I have no use for it whatsoever but I still want it.  ...must engage self control...

Doctor Who / Re: 50th Anniversary Special In 3D.
« on: November 23, 2013, 11:43:52 PM »
Really enjoyed the 50th anniversary special.  I've had a feeling that Steven Moffat has bee slowly unpicking all of the stuff introduced by RTD that he doesn't like - RTD did tend to ignore the history of the show.

Shame you didn't get the the whole regeneration sequence.

I wonder exactly who/when the curator was?

Hurt was great - "what are you going to do?  Build a cabinet at them?".

I'll be watching that again I think.

Is that a bag of chips he's dropped?

No.

But now you've made me realise it doesn't look like what I meant it to :(

You could just change things a bit so now the ewok is fighting off some gulls that are after his chips.

Seriously though, it's looking good.  Is the forest backdrop painted or some kind of printout?

Ideas for New Heresy Models / Re: Hürn MK III
« on: November 15, 2013, 01:19:47 PM »
The expense does seem to be an issue - that and the stretch goal milestones were seen to be just unlocking other things you could buy at first.

Also I think the communication from Prodos has been bad - not much in the way of comments from them, and one early comment from a backer about the price for the boxed game was met by quite a stroppy response.

Andy - the dragon may well pose an problem to your kickstarter - were you planning on trying to get as many dragons as possible shipped before you start, or is it a case of the kickstarter funds partly helping get the dragon on it's way?

This thread seems to have been thoroughly hijacked now.

[Maybe a good fit with the ton of cash I've just dropped into the Battle Systems KS :D

That does look good doesn't it?  I have no use for it but I still feel like I want it, which is most unlike me.

Yeah, some freebies.  facehuggers, £10 worth of ad-ons, a "berserker predator" so far.  Depending on pledge level I think.

They are going to be cast in urethane plastic, whatever that is.

I'm not totally convinced yet, but it's still on my radar - even if I only get a couple of games out of it with the other half.  I'm not sure sure I can get over the feeling that the figures are expensive - £10 for a predator.  But then <old fogey>everything is more expensive these days</old fogey>.  Might be good for painting though.

At first I wasn't tempted - it didn't seem very good value for money and the comments from Prodos when people were commenting seemed a bit churlish.  I don't know what kind of effect people's feedback had, but the kickstarter seems to be offering better value now with the various freebies.

Might be tempted now.

I'd go for that.

On a completely unrelated note, a few years ago someone did some not-dwarfers conversions based on some heresy miniatures.  That thread got trimmed recently though, so I can't point you at it.

(PS Sorry if it looks like I edited your post - I pressed the wrong button, hit modify instead of quote!)

No worries.

Yeah, I suppose it is like that:

Have loads of money?  Have loads more!
Have no money?  Then clear off!

:shakes head:

The magnetised laser cut boards looked nice.  I liked the way they clicked together, seemed expensive and very bulky for for the gameplay area you got though.  Shame it didn't get funded, but maybe that goes to show how important a good video pitch is.  And then there's the random luck element - no matter how good something is, it can fail.  Or how bad it is, it can succeed.

Kickstarter seems to have become the standard way of doing things these days - I suppose in the past these two would have got a small business startup loan.  Nothing stopping them from doing that now even.

I really do like the sound of that game - you could just drop the shooting doors bit.
