Non-FOD minis / Re: X-Wing boardgame
« on: August 14, 2013, 11:08:55 PM »
I definitely agree that Mon Cals are a little boring, especially Home I (the "main" Mon Cal in RotJ).

Maybe an Imperial Interdictor? It could open up a lot of scenario-based gaming for the ships actually at the level the game caters to.

I was terribly remiss in not telling you how incredible the Neb B looks. I've been fortunate enough to examine the shooting model on a few occasions and yours really does it justice.

As always I'm blown away by the quality and volume of your work (I mean come on, this at the same time as your flat pack Forge?). I hope you realize that you are spoken of in my circles in hushed tones like, a demigod of gaming craft.

Mon Calamari cruisers. By the RotJ era they seemed to be the main ship-of-the-line for the Rebellion (as evidenced in the Battle of Endor).

Managed to misplace my bank card, and only discovered it 20 minutes before having to leave the house for the weekend. This should be fun...

Shoot on Saturday went well, a guy in full plate mail does attract attention though.

Spent a nice day with my extended family today.

Editing my short film tomorrow.

Employment sorted through early February, more or less (a rarity for a freelancer).

Good times.

Just beautiful. Can't wait to see it painted up.

Very cool, looks like it's time to change your primer though

Yeah, I noticed when I was painting him he got a little hairy, but in the macro shots it looks awful. I think I was just out of practice, I hadn't primed a mini in months if not over a year... should have practiced on a less vital mini. :)

I'm honestly beginning to wonder if it might not be worth it to move to whatever area it is you live in so I can worm my way into your gaming circle.

All this stuff is incredible. I can't wait to see how your Nebulon-B comes out. Did you do any research into how ILM created the original model?

Thanks guys! Definitely dig yours out, the world needs more crazy halflings.

I finally had a look at this on my desktop when I got home from the road, and was properly ashamed to have taken cellphone pics. I repent by dragging out my Real Camera and macro lens for these:

Titus killed three dire rats on his own in our first session, while two other weaklings struggled to do the same combined.

I like the gaze very much  :metoo:

This little guy is just bursting with personality, like all of Hasslefree's minis. A complete joy to paint.

Thank you!

Somewhere in the dim recesses of my mind I knew Ghonad existed, but he's a touch too cartoony for my taste (for a PC I mean, it's a great mini in general).

I've been eyeing this guy for a long time, so when my friend suggested a Pathfinder campaign I jumped at the chance to play a halfling barbarian.

He needs a little neatening and maybe some clearer pics, but they'll have to wait till I'm back home next week.

After a long break things are moving with my thesis film, and I have a meeting with a very talented editor tomorrow morning about cutting it.  He's agreed to the project in principle after reading the script, so I fully expect to have a post-production plan by tomorrow night.

Hurray!

Nice one
Can we get to see it anywhere ?

Even better than stills, I finally sorted out albums full of behind-the-scenes shots on my professional FB page!

I am extremely excited for Saturday.  Good to see all the old Daleks back... it's as if they realized the new design wasn't, umm, a fan favorite.

It's entirely possible- unfortunately one of the costs of hiring professional actors is that I can't just pop it on YouTube without paying them, but I'll be sending it to pretty much any festival I think might show it- and since it has a comic book angle, that includes comic conventions and so on.  I certainly won't be shy about promoting it...

...of course, it will take a couple/three months to get through post-production, anyway.

Maybe I can manage to get some stills or something.

Yesterday I wrapped principle photography on a short film I wrote and directed.  Not only is it always pleasing to get to do what I do (as it were), but I am truly overwhelmed with gratitude for the support I received from friends, industry contacts, and even complete strangers who donated their time and resources to bring my little story to life.

I'm a very lucky man.

My understanding was that the third movie isn't actually part of The Hobbit, but is made up of bits feom Tolkein's writings that cover the gap between The Hobbit and Fellowship.

I sold a painting for five hundred pounds. I was only looking ninety for it but the guy fell in love with the painting.

Well done sir!

Someone with a fairly large part in a currently released (in the US, anyway) film is auditioning for a part in my short.  It's extra good news for me, as it solves the problem of finding a decent child actor.

Here's a tip from you to me:  Never write a film that stars a child.
