: Who's got interview questions for Andy?
: Jetblack July 26, 2009, 08:28:47 PM
I write a miniatures blog called The Screaming Alpha, and the talented Mr.Andy Foster of Heresy Miniatures has graciously consented to be my next interview subject. As is my custom, I'd like to solicit interview questions from the community. I can't promise all of them will be asked or answered, but here's your chance to throw a query or two in the hopper. Deadline in 12pm EST on Friday, July 31st. Now let's hear those questions! [braces self]

Oh, and I realize that the FOD is a fan community and all, but let's refrain from the Connie Chung style, "What makes you so awesome?" type softballs, shall we?

For examples of past questions, check out my previous interview with John Hamilton of Studio Miniatures.

what the hell happened to my question?

No.  Dont ask any that!!!

OK, here it is again;

Of all the miniatures that you wanted to make but either never got around to, or just never finished...  Which one was your favourite concept, and why did it not make it to market?

Are you gonna finish the dragon soo... mebbe not that one, I've just seen his latest FB entries... How about:

Is there any mini, recent or past from any company, that you just sit back and say to yourself, "That's awesome, I wish I'd sculpted that"?

When there are so many financial hazards involved with the miniatures industry, what makes you persevere with the Heresy business and have there been times where you have started looking for alternative jobs when things have been particularly bleak?

Have you ever spent ages sculpting something, getting it just the way you want it, then just as you almost have it finished, see something someone else has sculpted and just released that looks (by pure conincidence) really similar, so you've had to scrap yours in case anyone thinks you're a copycat?

I know there was the time GW hit you with the snotty letter over the Blights, but I'm talking about something that you've never released because of this...

Do you have a favourite fruit?
Who would win in a fight...a Sloth or an Armadillo?
If you could have sculpted any miniature or collection of miniatures which one(s) would you have sculpted? (Edit: caerban  said the same thing )

Once you finish the Dragon model, would you attempt anything that big again, such as a giant?

If you find yourself rich beyond your wildest dreams, would you continue to Sculpt and produce miniatures?

I remember some time ago you were thinking of releasing a range of paints, is that something you are still considering, I for one would rather buy my paints from a FoD company, rather than the Evil Empire?

We all know that you are very critical with your own sculpts, and sometimes you work endlessly fiddling with details. Yet, once a mini is released and you look at it, can you feel proud of it or do you still see it with a critical eye looking for ways it could have improved?

I did think someone might ask about any of the other creative stuff connected to Heresy, such as rules, background fluff etc...

Andy, could you tell us about your other creative stuff connected to Heresy, such as rules, background fluff, etc?

Could you be more specific?

Could you tell us  specificaly?

OK, seriously;  What is the inspiration for your Netherhells setting, and what guides/inspires you when applying the background into your fantasy sculpts?

How did the play-test rules pan out?  And how is the game development progressing?

With such a range of adventurers, daemons and a generally wide selection of fantasy figures, do you ever plan to write up a definitive background setting to place them in, potentially basing a 'pen and paper' rpg around it?

Are there any plans to broaden the Deathball range, and how popular has the current range been?

Is it true that casting Deathball Ogres is in fact one of the greatest pleasures of your life?

are there any plans for or would sculpt a female angel?

what ever happened to show us your war face? (where fodders posted pictures of their war faces for you to sculpt)

Will there be a Heritics ball this year?

Which do you prefer, Sci-Fi or Fantasy? Does that preference have a bearing on what you sculpt and release?

If you had the time and resources, would you like to go back and "update" your earlier sculpts, now you've evolved and improved as a sculptor?

Given the opportunity, and if mutually beneficial, would you consider a merger with another miniatures company? This would be under the premise that Heresy maintains it's unique personality and style, and the said merger purely for marketing, production and distribution benefits.

As you've created some wonderful not Dr Who sculpts, would you consider approaching the BBC to obtain the license to produce a full range of Dr Who minis?
Or do you feel that the financial outlay to obtain the license would outway any potential profit from the figures and put too much pressure on you to meet deadlines for releases etc?

OK, thanks a lot FODers! You really gave me some great questions. I'll start collating the contributions and get them off to Andy ASAP. I'll be sure to post when the article is published. Thanks again for your participation.
