I would be against Grymn having psionics...the Grymn are just too grounded for that sort of mumbo-jumbo (hence their strong reaction to the Delsertis when they first met them).

Other races...fair enough ;).

BUT...my view really doesn't count here because an on-line RPG really doesn't interest me (but I will keep tabs on it for the fluff that turns up).

GM says... No Psionics/Arcane Backgrounds etc.
I might allow it for Humans, but tightly controlled (probably using the Superpower system with a tight reign on what's allowed & limited to 1 power, if you're familiar with SW).
Sleiti biotechnology will probably be based off the 'Weird Science' Arcane Background, but they're not playable in my game.

I personally don't see the Grymn as great innovators. In my mind they were created for a particular purpose and given a certain determination and improvisational ability as part of that - they lack a drive to create new technology.
In my mind Grymn do not invent. They take what they can from other races and make it as rugged and efficient as they can manage.

I think that you've summed up my way of thinking about the Grymn quite well.  The only other thing I would add is that they are very practical so if they were in a dodgy situation, they would be able to get out of it by being practical and inventing stuff for the purpose of escape.  Necessity is the key to invention.

I don't think Grymn lack a drive to research new technologies, they just don't have the resources left after dealing with the Bohkin always attacking trying to wipe them out.

They're very good at reverse engineering.

so basically the grymn are The A-Team - ask them to develop a particle accelerator and they'll deliver a toaster. But, lock them in an abandoned garage witha 1967 chevvy and a welding kit and they'll create a vehicle capable of destroying a King Tiger!!

So, how long before we see that medallion/jewelery wearing grymn?

Liking the sound of the RPG, I'll certainly be watching with interest.

Anyone know where I can get a roughly 1/50 scale diecast black minivan with a red stripe down the side and over the roof?

Apologies, but my interweb is currently down - and will be for at least 3 days to the looks of things. So I'm basically on hold with this until it gets sorted.
I'll be making notes etc, but won't be able to check the thread very often.

If you are genuinely interested in buying one, Brandlin, I know that Model Zone in Newcastle has a few Corgi 1/48th scale A-Team vans in stock. I bought one there myself to use with my Foundry B-Team figures. Cost is £14.99. PM me if you'd like to me get one for you. It comes with a Mr.T figure who is far too big to use but the van looks about the right size alongside the Foundry 28mm scale figures.

For those interested in this, if you don't know the Savage Worlds system, head on over to the Pinnacle website. The downloads section has the free test drive rules that'll give you a basic grounding in the system.

No problems, Brandlin. I live in a little village called Springwell, just north of Washington. If you blink when driving through it you'll miss it.  The village's only claim to fame is that it houses the Bowes Railway Museum. Although I was born in Newcastle I live south of the Tyne. Still a Geordie though!

I know I've not been around much recently, but if it's not too late, this looks lots of fun!

How about:

Anton, Grymn, male, fairly experienced, ambitious (wants to make it to strategic command), has a taste for melee combat that can be unnerving to some, though recognises that it isn't always practical.

Just so we're not all crack shots who haven't got any desire to rise through the ranks!

Sorry, I am still moving along with this. But my bank has been complaining that I've got no money and so they charge me more money.
So I've been spending a bit of time sorting my finances.  As much fun as games are, real life has to come first.

But since that's all over and sorted now (well fingers crossed anyway), I'll be trying to fire this off tonight.  I've only got a few minutes left at lunchtime so I'll go through and see who's created character outlines and look at putting some more solid info up.

Thanks for bearing with me.

'The Badger'-not his real name of course, but a nickname due to the white streak in his otherwise dark hair. So-so at combat, excels at engineering, working knowledge of science. Can jury rig almost anything out of bits of cardboard and baling wire.
Stats all average for Grymn except for Smarts, one die type higher (assuming novice level).
Hinderences, Bad Eyes(minor), Loyal(minor), Curious(major).
Edges, MacGyver.

Huh, I'm sure I replied on here yesterday? Did the board eat my post or did I do something stupid like forget to click 'post'?

I've set up a Grymnverse Wiki since I applied for the existing one and no-one came back to me.

Feel free to request an invite to add to it, I'm not going to get jealous with my little spin off world.

Roll Call:
Brandlin as: Brandlin (Scout/Marksman)
Snailracer as: Lamm (Fixer/Light Infantry)
Keeper40k as: As yet unnamed (Tech/Marksman)
Rod the Worm as: Anton (Melee/Command)
Bewildered Badger as: "The Badger" (Jury-Rig/Engineer)

If you can all through together some brief stats based on the stuff on the Grymnverse wiki (but bear in mind they may change as I adjust things to Message-board gaming and as the setting becomes more realised in my head).

I've had a look at the character creation page on there, but you've not said how many (if any) extras we get to pick.  I'm assuming a couple, since the concepts aren't raw recruits.
