Hi Guys and Girls. Here it is at last. My first DOD entry ever!!! This is the piece that has set my GW Imperial Guard army back two weeks, and means I must not sleep between now and Nov 8th, which is when I have to have said army reasy for the Grand Tornement. Ho Hum, sleep is over rated anyway. Well enough moaning. I am really pleased with this job. it is my first ever go at a real diorama, and I think it has turned out OK. The title is "I'll Take the Blue One.", and it is based loosly on the imagary from Hell Boy 2, in the troll market. The idea is that the Fairy Catcher (BS) is selling his captured faieries to a passing Orc adventurer (SG). The orc has taken a liking to the Blue fairy (a harem girl-HF) while a red, slightly wicked looking fairy looks on (Sucabus-herasy)

That's really good The figures are really well done, and the scenery is smart, too. The wall at the back looks really stinky with all the slime running down it. The only thing I would say is that it could have done with MORE figures ( ) to fill it out a bit at the front, to make it more like the scene in the film. Or maybe more scenery? Or if the base had been smaller? Aw, baws! It looks brilliant the way it is . Well done

actually this is my second scene. the first one I made I scrapped because it was about 50% larger!
I take your point, and if I had allowed myself more time I could have painted some goblins and other odd folk to be passers by. I will know for next time. thanks for the comment.

That is a cracking scene mate, love the background story and the figures are really nicely done. Would have to echo Lost Boy though, just needs to be more "stuff" on the base as it looks a bit open but that is a minor point. Well done for getting all four companies miniatures in as well.

As I have already said, this is my first diorama, and I normally build scenary for wargamming, and I think that open, easy access for play technique may have subconsiously influenced how I built this scene. It's a fair cop. next time I will have to add more detail etc.

Nice work Rob - I have had running commentary as you have built this *, but now I finally get to see the finished piece. I really like the choice of figures involved and the overall design. Great stuff, mate. * - caveat: I have known this modeller for far too many years.

I like the scene you created here and to echo some other comments, more models would have given it the hustle and bustle of a marketplace. There is nothing to stop you from adding more figures from other manufacturers once the comp is over though For a first go at a diorama its great and really nicely painted. It's hard to incorporate models from the FOD companies and I think you have set them in a scene which makes them work well together. A top job and one to be proud of

Nice one, most have said about the extra figures, but otherwise it's a great little scene . I think a black backdrop would of given it greater impact

I'll echo the sentiments about the use of the figures. Very clever and well imagined. I like it a lot and should I ever get some space in my house to paint again and get round to doing a diorama, then I'd be chuffed if was half as good as this. Well done.

Good set up and execution of making an original scene flow around the different manufacturers.
Nothing wrong with a little backdoor fairie dealing is there?

Many thanks for everyone who comment on my diorama. as I said, this is my first big diorama, and I welcome any feed back, especially all the nice things everone has said. I have been looking on HF website and I have found a few figs I plan to add to the dioram to flech it out a bit (My Hero and one of the demon children I think). This might have to wait until I have got enough money (sorry libby and kev-you know, X-mas and all). I have got the bug now, and am alrady planing my next diorama. As the GW prices have gone up, and the credit crunch is staring to really bit, I find I can no longer aford to build massive armies of space marines etc. Half a dozen minis for a diorama and a bit of scrap card is a much more economical activity.
