Ladies, gents and goblins here is my entry for this years DoD.

Enjoy, as usual comments and criticism are welcome.

Cheers to Clare (my house mate) for taking the photos for me. Your skills with a camera will be put to good use in the not to distant future.

Right! Time to start thinking about next years entry.

Nice job mate, she looks in real trouble to me! Very dynamic scene and my only criticism (and it barely qualifies as that) is although the shield is really nicely done it just doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the paintjob, maybe too bright as that's what my eye is drawn to everytime. The baddy is outstanding, especially the back where the spines are protruding Thumb Up. Personally, I think the shield's a nice touch, and the skin on the horse looks very horseskinnyish Blink. A really dynamic, cool piece, Reaperman.

looks cool mate Smile

the leather for the horses gear (reins, bridle, saddle bags etc) appear too close to the horses skin tone, that's the only thing i think needs tweeking.

very dynamic, with a good story. Love the paining of the grey/flesh tones on the bad guy.

the horse is nicely done, with a paniced look in it's eye. Disbelief/Horror

I can't make my mind up about the shield. I would have to agree with alrith72 that it kind of draws the eye away from the drama, but it is so nicely painted. Scratches Head

I really like the dynamics of this scene and the way you have used the three different manufacturers. She's looking remarkably calm considering what is about to land on her plate!! I would have pooped my pants  Embarassed Shocked  A nice tight scene which speaks for itself, grats on such a cool job Round of Applause

Nice job mate, she looks in real trouble to me!

Looks to me like she's not anymore. The way the arm, sword and body is posed it looks as if she's at the endpoint of a strike. Intestines pouring out of the adversarie would complete that picture  Twisted Evil
Very dynamic scene. Shimmer really lends herself to that kind of thing doesn't she  Wink My immediate thought on receiving her was to have HER springing the ambush (against a hapless orch or so)

Glad everyone likes it. I wanted to see what people came up with story wise for this moment captured. While building it I thought the time freeze was just at the moment she finished the swing of the sword to kill the beastie and realized it moved quicker than she could. Its the moment when your playing a computer game and you just don't react quick enough, and your character takes a hit for your slowness.

Cheers for all the nice comments I'm very happy with the results. I'll be back in it next year with all 4 hopefully.

2?  Scratches Head I count 3, thats a converted black scorpion horse. The horse gives the extra momentum I needed in the scene.

Cheers for the posative response

Very dynamic and I really like the fact that you can't quite see how the monster is attached so it really looks like it is leaping. Nice!

Awesome work. It's truly hard to accept it's a diorama, rather than a still from an action scene.

I have to ditto that I like the work on the spine protrusions and that captured a moment in time feel to it. That lurking above reactionary fluidity is just great.

Reactionary fluidity???

Don't ask me it's what came to mind.
