Woof! *bound bound*
« on: October 12, 2008, 08:59:05 AM »
Does anyone have any good reference material of dogs running? I have a little sculpture idea in my head but I can't seem to find anything great. Personal pictures of peoples doggies abound on that there internets but I'm looking for something a little less aesthetic and personal and a bit more cold, formal and anatomical. There seem to be quite a few pics of running horses for anatomical/leg position reference but less so for dogs. Can anyone help? For preference I'm looking for something leggy not a lap dog whose feet you can barely see protruding from beneath it's poofball fuzz :) The idea itself involves pseudo-wolfhounds so the closer to that the better.

Hawkins, Benjamin Waterhouse : A comparative view of the human and animal frame (1860) comparison of human and animal skeletons
Ellenberger: Handbuch der Anatomie der Tiere für Künstler (Atlas of Animal Anatomy for Artists) very good illustrations of musculature/ skeleton featuring horse, cow, dog, lion, goat and deer click "Browse the Veterinary Anatomical lllustrations" just below the headline

for some general anatomical reference on dogs
