As usual with your wips... :applause:
I'm not very fond of that head, but the body is superb. And I too vote for different head options (including the present one, 'cos although I don't like it someone sure does).
The size of the mini is perfect, too. And it's your first mini to go on a cavalry base, isn't it?

He's a combination of a Hyena, Sabretooth tiger and bits of mastiffs and bulldogs.

I think you're all going to be surprised, cos you all think I was keeping the skull head as is. It's going a bit Scooby Doo with the face on there. I'm resigned to a slightly cartoony look on it for now though, plenty more practise to come with the rest. (I think he looks like Scooby Doo on the day the Gang ran out of Scooby Snacks and he went mental and savaged Shaggy) I'm a little unhappy with it - the head has gotten a little bigger than I wanted now it's fleshed out, for a start (but this is only Head #1, there are many more to come) and the foreleg needs thinning.  I may also lengthen the body for the next hell hound, with the extra muscle on the legs it's starting to look a bit short. Pics have been resized by the FOD so click the links for full size/proper ratio ones:

You can see how much thinner he started out as this morning.

I'll also be sharpening those little spikes, if they stay...

Do click the links, all the pics are much narrower than they should be, and make him look even shorter than he is...  :erm:

Well, technically the Centaur does too...

Manes/ tentacles could be integral with the head as could back armour/spikes etc, you could even do a 3 headed "fluffy" version

Cerberus is already planned, to coincide with something else, but I'm not saying what 'cos I might never get round to it this year. But yeah, 3 Headed Dog of Doom was my first thought when I started this project.

Does it coincide with this? :thinks:

Nothing wrong with an improved Cerberus. Just thought you might want to know about this coincidence.

The dog looks good, although a bit weird as the body isn't beefed up yet. I'll definitely keep checking this thread. (Now I also remember that I have the old beasts painted up in my glass cabinet. Might be photography time...)

Forgotten that one...

As for the hellhound, apart from thinning that foreleg I wouldn't change a thing. It's perfect as it is.
Big head you say? Well, you need a big head to accommodate big fangs.
Its bulk is correct, too; adding more would result in awkward proportions.

And although I no longer play WHFB... please sculpt a proper Cerberus. WHFB will need a decent one for their demonic armies...

Oh sweet yes!

That one's looking lovely, but as mentioned earlier, not everything in the Netherhells needs to be big and beefy.  Sometimes the quick and lithe things are even scarier, like the Lurkers.

Spikes, tusks, fangs and armour etc. are all I'd go for personally - tentacles detract from the savagery for me, but it's just a personal preference.  I'm sure 'Hellish conversion kits' would sell well too.

Now that is a seriously nice sculpt.

Hmmmm, I can just imagine it now, a hunting pack of these chasing a poor frantic mutant-were-fox.  muahahahaha

As for the bulking out, I actually like it the way it is, maybe you could do a more bulked out version to be the pack master.

Hmmm, could we have perhaps found our Schooby standin to go with the medling kids?   :thinks:

:applause: I love the head, but agree that the foreleg could be less bulky / body more bulky dorso-ventrally, like on your diagram, or maybe both.. love the claw idea too! Looking forward to seeing (and buying) the finished beasties...

(Oh my god. That GW hound is going to be £10.00???!!! :rofl3: )

http://www.laposadadelfriki.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=292

Lots of pics of the new GW demons there. I like most of them, but I do think I can do better, and cheaper in terms of metal ones. May, eh? We shall see what we can get done by then...

SOLD the the man in black.

ANdy.  Please, sell dem bones...

I saw your skellie armature a while back and like the look of it (and was sad when you put it on hold)...  And I see you have a skellie armature for the dog too.  Seel it as a skellie mate...  Cannot cost you too much to make them up as armatures, but suddenly those Vampire Count/Skeleton armys get fighting dogs too (and a cool alternative to Dire Wolfs...  So named because of their sculpt...   )

And I never expected you to leave the skeleton head on it, I just wanted to remind you that some of us dig it anyway (and as you are casting them as armatures anyway...)

Its just a thought, but how could that hurt business?

The skeleton isn't really good enough to count as a skeleton - I need to totally sculpt over it and make it smooth, defined and anatomically more accurate. It's actually only a 'rough' one that gives me an idea on where the lumps go and can be bent to shape. The legs all have to be pinned on and there's no ribcage, for a start!

Undead versions of this will be forthcoming though, so fear not. I already thought to cash in on those awful dire wolf sculpts of that

Skellie...armature? :scratchhead:

Oh, the one with the head that was too big, and was about 33mm tall? Bit big, as it turned out. And I never finished it.

I've got an idea for that, although it looks like it may need to be a 3 headed one as well.

OK, I just remember a lone skeleton standing in an old WIP picture (I think it was back when you first did the Sci-Fi crew)...  And that was at a time I was really going for nice easy Skellies, and I knew yours would be better that the bulky GW skellies.

I still think however that there is a gap in the market for non-human zombies and skeletons, and cannot see why fighting dogs cannot fit into these massed ranks too.  Either that or all Necromancers are inherantly 'species-sit'...  ;)
