Why does it need correcting?

The Queen always says "My Husband and I". I would suggest that Her Majesty would have enough people around her to get her grammar correct.

"an interview with Kev and I" sounds right to me.

Wrong- you use 'I' when it's the subject of the sentence and 'me' when it's the object of the sentence. Here 'interview' is the subject and Kev and Sal are the object of the sentence. To check the correct word simply leave out the other person and see how it reads. Would you say '' an interview with me'' or '' an interview with I'' ? If you accept that the correct wording is '' an interview with me'' then the correct heading here should be '' an interview with Kev and me.''

as i understand it, in layman's terms, you should treat yourself in the sentence as if there was no-one else in it, ie it wouldn't be right if it were 'and interview with i', as a result, it should be 'and interview with (kev and) me'

This to me confirms nothing other than the fact that English is one of the most inconsistant languages in the world, and yet due to weight of power and politics it has been chosen to be the international language.

I say this because my understanding - which is of an English GCSE standard - is that you could say:

Kev and I in an interview.

But due to some strange mechanics you can not say:

An interview with Kev and I.

One thing that I do find funny is that how people with english qualifications believe they "know" the language better and yet the producers of the English dictionary are forever stating that our language changes on a yearly basis - that includes grammer. There are ofcourse those that would argue for the worse, but then I am quite happy we don't all march around talking like we had walked out of a Shakespear play . . . . .

The basic essential of any language is that the intended message is being communicated, cave paintings, art, sign language, sculptures, tappestries, fashion, music - these are all languages and to that extent I find it hard to see that any language is an exact science.

Surely as Sally is by far the most important element the sentence should in fact read "An interviw with the empress, with contributions from some random underling."

To be honest, the way society's going these days, the correct grammar's probably something in text speak.

On a side note, that's one of my all time annoyances.

Text speak was designed for mobile phones, with limited character count and tiny keys.

Why oh why, do cretins insist on using it on forums where they have the use of a proper keyboard?

It takes me longer to read text speak than it does to read something that has incorrect grammar and spelling.

Sorry Barry, but I have to disagree completely. The title of this thread is clear and unambiguous. There is no confusion of meaning, therefore the English is perfectly acceptable in modern usage.

You might not like it. It might not even conform to Fowler's, but we're not in the 1920s, either, anymore. In a modern environment such as the internet, where the majority of people communicating via English do not have English as their mother tounge, clarity of meaning is far more important that adherence to arbitrary rules, IMO.

However, despite all this, I'm pretty certain that you're not going to agree with me AND I am not going to be able to change your mind no matter what I say - so lets let this one die, and have no more of this kind of thread necromancy, please.

Same here: "io" = "I" as subject, and "me" = "me" as object, but the difference is faded away - from 1920 to today

sheesh, after a weekend of listening to the kids bickering i logged on here to get away from it all and found.......more kids bickering!...lol!

I was always taught not to say "me". If i had written "an interview with Kev and me" it would have sounded wrong as would "an interview with me and Kev". Tis fine as it is, move along children............

Well, it could be an interview with an entity called "Kev and I", which is read like a trademark. Then we can discuss, whose convention to follow when it acts as a subject: "Kev and I is --" or "Kev and I are --".
