An interview with Kev and I
« on: December 01, 2007, 10:15:00 PM »
Neil Shuck from Meeples and Miniatures came to see Kev and I last week to record an interview.  If you havent heard of them then you should really check it out, they do really intereasting Podcasts on aspects of the industry from rules reviews to battle reports to interviews with manufacturers)

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/neil.shuck/index.html

We rabbitted so much that he eventually couldnt fit it into one interview but had to split it into two parts!  poor Neil, he didnt realise that Kev and I dont have much of a social life so will happily drawl on for hours about ourselves!...lol

He has just emailed me to say that the first part is now live so if you want to hear what Kev and I have to say on such interesting subjects as why we started HF, how Kev got into gaming, who he has worked for and what ranges...then go and check it out.  I will warn you that although it is over half an hour long it actually makes interesting listening ( well i would say that wouldnt i!!)

Sally :)

most mornings i wake up grumpy.   sometimes i just let him sleep.

my life consists of brief snatched moments of living my life hidden deep among chaos, confusion& the  going crazy, every night i go to sleep filled with hope & enthusiasm for the new day coming.  then i wake up & think "here I go again" & just aim to survive.

Ah lovely. Now there's voices to go with the faces from the photo's. I swear someday I'm going to meet you guys (and hopefuly Andy from heresy too). But for now it's just interesting to remind myself how people's voices don't always sound how you'd expect them to :).

Very interesting to listen to, I'm sure part two will be just as interesting.
As the grumpy dwarf said, I'd like to meet both of you, Kev and Sally (and the kiddies too) someday, but as I just recently purchased a house, it may be a long time before I can take another trip across the pond.
And the voices didn't really surprise me, sound fairly close to what I imagined (but I suppose I think that all English people sound the same....though I know that's not true).

 :metoo:

Sally sounds how I expected, but Kev sounds nothing like I imagined, he almost sounds tall.   :drevil:

Great insight into the background of HF. :respect:

Oh and I think Sally should have the line.. "This guy must have a little bit of talent, I think i'll pimp him."  as her new tagline.   :spank: :woohoo!:

Well, they sounded sort of like "model train enthusiasts with a bit of a cold" when I'd imagined them as sounding like lovely growly cuddly teddy bears. Does that make any sort of sense to anyone else?

Listening I went (in reference to someone else) "they have company credit cards? How does that work? I mean, they can't lend themselves what they've already got. You can't give yourself something you already have. You can give yourself a copy, a second version, but not what you already have. It's in your hands! Made up money fake debt credit card rubbish is just lies and doesn't make sense!"

I still don't understand how someone can borrow something they've already got from themself as, if they've already got it, they don't need to borrow it.

Just finished listening to the first part of the interview.... very VERY enjoyable, and as soon as I copy it to disc, it will sit on my game book shelf as part of my most treasured collection.

I think you both sound extremely professional (no erms... and ums... just solid and honest chat). Incidentally, Sally sounds exactly as I imagined, and Kev sounds really sure of his abilities, what he wants, and what he doesn`t like; plus, he sounds a right tough bloke, which I respect (wouldn`t like to get on his wrong side LOL)

When will part two be available? Can hardly wait.

Steve.

Excellent interview - I really enjoyed listening to it!  Its good to hear that you chaps are the same nice chaps on audio that we talk to online and buy stuff from regularly!

This interview is a credit to you both!     But then I've not heard the second part yet, of course!

If it helps, Balgin - such things are usaully just normal Mastercard or a Visa, but instead of an abstract design, or a picture of a tiger or whatever, they have the company logo printed on the main part of the card with the embossed numbers and details over the top of this logo.

Wheehehehooha!  Kev and Sally are real people!  With english accents!  They're not just random text on an online forum! :silly

You two sound nothing like I imagined - Kev sounds very feminine and Sally has such a deep voice !

After reading that, then listening, I'd say vice-versa.  In particular I get this impression of Phil Mitchell whenever Kev's speaking...

 :lmao:

All I can say is Sally sounds a lot calmer than she does at shows... mind you the stress of looking after the kids probably accounts for it.

The clarecraft stuff was an eye opener... I remember getting the luggage and the librarian many years ago.

You sound no different from real life..

Hi all - I'm the Brummie on the podcast who Kev & Sally are talking to

Quote
I... whuh... Am I reading it wrong, or is that podcast over 70 minutes long?

'fraid so. 47 minutes of interview, plus the rest of the show. I normally produce the show every fortnight, about this length (it means people can still download them onto CD

I think you both sound extremely professional (no erms... and ums... just solid and honest chat)

Well, I edit out erms, ums and pauses as a matter of course during the post-production process. I'm as bad as anyone when it comes to verbal 'clutter' - for example, it appears that I had my mic in the wrong place during the interview, plus I had a cold, so it sounds a bit like Kev and Sally are being interviewed by Darth Vader's asthmatic cousin in places...

Anyway, I'm glad that people have enjoyed the interview - part II in a couple of weeks...

Cheers,
Neil.

Definately a great interview, can't wait for part 2! Please post when it's online Sally.

Loved hearing about the background and everything, the sculpting and business stuff was really cool.
I love how open HF is about everything you do, really does add to the personal touch, don't ever change!

Cracking interview :)

Small world department: re Discworld sculpting/Clarecraft - Snuurg made the large (2' diameter) model of the Discworld that Pratchett likes to be photographed with (it also featured - briefly - in last year's Hogfather dramatisation on Sky). I remember Chaz Elliot doing some of their pieces - he was a year below me at art college in Lincoln and I'm sure I remember seeing related stuff kicking around the studios...

Looking forward to part 2  :D

Does Snuurg know Bernard too? If so, (and if he's still alive, he never replied to my emails before I lost his address) could he pass along a "Hello" from me, please?

Dunno, tbh. He sold the A'Tuin model direct to Mr P a few years after the Clarecraft stuff, iirc.
