Recently just been p**sed off by a parent phoning trying to get their kid ff detention because I SAW THEM with my own two eyes kicking in the library door (this is a teacher problem) and then running off after calling them over. Is she trying to teach him that destruction of school property is an acceptible thing. 
All at the end of having a really good day with the class too.

It's an odd thing, that. If that'd been me kicking the door in(not that I'd have got caught doing anything like that), my parents would have left me to do the detention, and then pretty much crucified me when I got home. Now, apparently, teachers are the parent's enemy as well, and their little darlings would never do anything like the thng they were seen doing. Ever.

I would also say that personality counts for a lot in interviews.  I don't know who you are Lorbaat and this is in no way a reflection of you or your circumstances but people conducting interviews will generally know if you are right for the job in the first few minutes of an interview...it can even be as soon as the moment you walk through the door.

Dress, demeanor, attitude, the way you speak, how you address people, what you know about the job you are applying for and many other things will dictate whether you get a job MORE than what is in your CV.

I have always been under the impression that a CV gets you the interview; not the job.  

As for 'what's a brother gotta do to get a job around here?'...maybe you need to see someone about interview techniques, just to give you more of an edge when you go for a job interview.

EDIT:  I forgot to say - don't let the system grind you down Lorbaat.  With a small amount of guidance and your CV, the next job may be just perfect for you and they'll snap you up as soon as they see you...don't lose heart.

Agreed, just think that the job wasn't right for you, rather than you not being right for the job.

Unless of course, it's a position where someone's already been earmarked for it internally, they just need to go through the motions of interviewing external people to satisfy their hiring policies.

beefcake, I've got a student who has said: "My mum hates the director and doesn't think half the  things we study at school are worth anything".   ... not one of my top performers.  Why do people set their kids up like that?

I actually suspect those parents may be involved in drug trafficking given some of the things the kid has said.  I just don't know if it's the sort of thing picked up from film and wants a reputation for a thug or real experience.  Some innocently dropped details seem too complete for the former.

It's sad but true, kids are losing their innocence all to quickly these days. I had a school social (dance) last night and 12 year old girls were texting their high-school boyfriends to meet them outside the venue. Shouldn't say any more on that matter as it could (but most likely not at all) brew trouble for me.

Goes hand in hand, my friend.  People tend to forget the PERSONAL part of personal beliefs.  If you do or don't believe?  What does it matter if the other guy does or doesn't?  Leave them alone, for cryin' out loud.  It's a PERSONAL choice; and I get very frustrated with the one's who say "The only truth is...." and proceed to lecture on about science OR God.

I know what I personally believe; and am willing to discuss that.  What I'm not willing (and can't stand) is to see a sharing of ideas; only for a person to say, "You're wrong."  The beauty of humanity is that we all don't do/say/think/look/live the same way.  If we did; life would be pretty freakin' boring.

From those who quote Bible verses saying "this proves that whatever is evil!" to those who say God is just a Myth, I can't stomach anyone who feels they can translate all the mysteries of our world for the billions of the rest of us.

as i said im not starting a rant. the frustration comes from the lack of intrest to do anything about it. people have been saying 2 things in response. 
1: boycott GW till Febuary.
2: use a twitter hash tag #gwattacksgamers but no ones signed up really. it died a horrible death basically.
so response has been lackluster at best.
I could go on about how they treat fans, and etc, etc, etc, etc, but as i said no rant. if your intrested inform yourself. a good place to start is any of the wesites ive listed..

Exactly, my friend.  I'm not talking about debating the finer points; but those who feel the need to make sure they get shots in with whatever they DON'T agree with.  Leave people alone who don't see everything the same as you if you disagree with what they see and feel.

I have NEVER understood this philosophy.  The web is known for a ton of fandom; and again, allow people to explore your games further.  If someone was touting their page as an "offical" or "endorsed" or "the home of" one of your games?  Then by all means, C&D their sorry rears.

But fans talking to fans about the game, or sharing ideas, or *gasp* expanding on the game?

The thing of it is, hawkins; is that GW isn't the only guilty party in this "Don't you dare refer to our product" gestapo.  Wizkids, DC comics, Marvel Comics, Wizards of the Coast (yes, the one's who tried to patent/copywright the concept of changing the facing of a card on the game table and say they came up with the idea.  They must of NEVER been to Las Vegas....)  Numerous game companies and entertainment fields I think at times protect their product TOO much; to the point of being no fun.

Well, Marvel doesn't protect it properly.  Look at all the crap movies they've put out, and need I say more.

I'm not going to defend GW thats what their lawyers are for lol. However I am a member of several of the above forums and I know now that after talking with GW Librarium.com has changed their layout slightly but can still talk about their products as for the others I think it's a case of wait and see. I wouldnt be surprised if GW starts releasing limited edition boxed sets once a year. I suppose it is their right to protect their IP but it can be very frustrating when a forum youve been a member of for several years just vanishes the same thing happened with a star trek fansite.

Ever since last december roughly around this time I have had to undergo physio therapy and occupational therapy on my left wrist and thumb. It is now a year later and I have to wear a flaming support bandage all the time I cant lift heavy objects or pick up small objects such as paint brushes and paperclips. I can however just about hold a pen and write however it's not easy good news uni bought me a laptop for coursework and I am supposed to get the use of a computer for my exams otherwise I'm looking at 2 hours of agony. I have tried to learn to write and paint right handed result? my 5 year old nieces hand writing is a hell of a lot more ledgible . Still it's nearly chrimbo so joy to all.
