I could just make her nakid and standing in front of an electric fan.  That's how things are around here today.  And this is just a "cool" heat.  In a month or two (maybe a week or two) we'll be in the fry-an-egg-on-your-car heat.  I live about 45 mins away from Death Valley.

Better you than me, girl.  I think I'd melt.     Um, it's a dry heat?

So they say.  I do notice when I visit my Dad in Wisconsin that 89 there feels like 125 here because of the humidity they have there.  Of course having no humidity has it's draw-backs as well.  My son wakes up with bloody noses every morning and I wake up with headaches.

What irks me is when my little package from Hasslefree arrives and the sweets I know are inside got so hot thatI can't get the black jack gum off the wrapper.

It's officially hot now.  It reached body temp today.  Why do I live in a desert?

It's a dry heat?   :eh:

There's an idea for a lizcam avatar.  One sweating and using a hand fan....

I'd like to see that.

You know, I really have tried.  I really have.  I wanted to avoid the rant for ranting sake, but as one of my childhood heroes would put it:

"That's all I can stands, cuz I can't stands n'more!"

Two pay periods ago; I worked two full weeks of work.  They failed to pay me for two of those days.  Now; my wife and I have to admit, we live paycheck to paycheck.  Ain't nothing wrong with that; but damn it all, I expect to get paid.

Now, when I picked up that check two weeks ago, I filled out all the paperwork for the adjustment in pay.  It was clearly a clerical error; and was told it would be on the next check.

Fast forward two weeks, and (ya'll know where I'm going with this, right?) no adjustment.  Now, what pisses me off to no end is that this was turned in a full TEN DAYS prior to the next pay period ending.  They had nearly TWO WEEKS to stick this information into the database so I can get my two days worth of pay.

But no, I get my check today; and no adjustment.  This, after I told our landlords they had to wait until the adjustment would come in this check to pay off the rent.  But no, of course not; its not in there.  I now have to take out a short-term loan to pay the rent (which is now late, and I will give some credit to mankind in this, our landlords are very nice people who understood the situation and have never given me grief over it.)

Just frustrates me to no end; as when this happens (and this is my sixth time in five years I have been shorted on a check.  It's unbelievable on how jackass backwards some things are ran in the United States Postal Service.)

Just un-freakin' believable.

He's going to love me this month - looks like I am only getting 3 days off out of 30 ! The 14 night marathon I was doing is now up to 16 and counting. My next 2 days off are wednesday & thursday by which time I will be up to 19 in a row ! The person I was doing the cover for has picked up a virus and while she cant help it, you would have thought someone else might have thought to give me a break !
To top it all I had my first migraine attack in about 10 years on friday night and spent the first 4 hours of my shift throwing up between customers !  :swear:
I think my body is trying to tell me it needs a break !
Heaven doesn't want me. Hell is afraid i will take over !

Yup, nights will do that too you, banging out 72 hour weeks is just no fun, I felt about 80 after one of those.  Thankfully I've had some down time, and am ready for the next 20 with 4 off... 8:::

Painting Summer over the weekend, wanted to put some pallid flesh on for some really light highlights...

If only I had a CD'A paints supplier somewhere close by, and didn't have to wait for Salute/Colours every year to stock up. I'm not sure whether to bother trying to rescue the brick with some thinners.

GW's paints probably worked for their painters, because I doubt a pot lasts more than a week for them, and if it does dry up, they just get another one. Unfortunatly, my guess is that they used them for approval and didn't bother doing a beta release to some customers. So I guess that's something annoys me - companies releasing products without adequate testing and feedback, mainly because the developers messed around, finished their work late and management still decided to keep to the release schedule, rather than delay it.
Testing/QA/Quality Control or whatever you want to call it is effectively your companies reputation, not the shiny brochures your marketing team can produce.

(And yes, I am bitter, I work in QA, and had a project a while back where I said it would take me x (about a year IIRC - it was a product recode and relaunch), got told I only had y (which might not have done for a simple upgrade), which was about four months less, and wound up with the development running way past y, and the whole project taking only a week more than my original estimate. And no, I didn't get any credit for accuracy  )

Sorry, kind of needed to vent there, I feel a bit better now :D

In all fairness I haven't had too much of a problem with the paints drying up.  I just keep an eye on the paints as I use them and just add in some water as necessary at the end.  The newer potts are light years ahead of the old impossible to undo screw tops

Lawd, those paints p*ssed me off something royal. I'm really glad they only came in when I was starting to drink instead of painting, so I never had more than 3 or 4 sieze up and be lost forever.

You can get an adaptor to fit on an old car wheel....then go to the garage and top up when the pressure drops.  A small wheel (Metro) would be cheap from a scrappy and probably last a week or two before re-pressurisation  :paranoid2:

Just a thought.....

Well, you can do that... but i'd strongly advise a water trap and filter between a car tyre and your precious airbrush - there's all kinds of contaminents in a tyre.

I'm lucky enough to have a workshop in my garage so I airbrush using the same compressor i run the air tools through...charge it onece and I can paint for hours...

I got my 10L compressor for about 30... amazing bargain from a DIY place getting rid of end of line stuff served me well for 3 years, and at that price its practically disposable...

Note I *could* paint for hours...clearly I don't or I would have many more finished models for you guys to see...!

Things that piss me off today (because its a long list and it changes from day to day)

I've been doing more work on my dropship which you may have seen on my blog (hint hint go have a look).

I've publicised it here on FoD, Frothers, Starship Modeller and TMP. On each site I've asked for advice and comments regularly. Those requests have generated a lot of positive comments on my progress so far for which I am very grateful, they have also generated a very small number of offers of help and advice which have been invaluable! :)

However Its noticable (less so on FoD) that everythime I post an update I get a few comments from people which basically start "Oh, you shouldn't have done it like that, you should have done this..."

Often these comments are from people I've never heard of or seen on the forum in question before, are sent as Private messages and ignore whats been written on my blog and just assume that I've done something wrong.

So what is it that pisses me off?

1) People that find it easier to criticize and pick holes after the event rather than encourage and advise before hand.
2) People that don't read material in front of them but tell you what you should have done anyway.

Note - this is a somewhat light hearted rant as I certainly don't want to stop people from commenting on my blog and the dropship, I'm just observing a trend of the type of advice that seems to be forthcoming!

Brandlin,

Next time you post; you should type the following......

 :paranoid2: just kidding of course.

I've encountered similar 'feedback' recently when it came to my videos.  Now, granted; I have no dreams of becoming a video editor, I do them for fun.  And as a fan of Doctor Who.  I make no illusions as to being an expert as far as the subject matter or the process.

But, I've had them called 'crap' and "when you make a video, you must tell a story with it" and "your clips are far too long, it needs to be quicker."

What annoyed me about this is the person who made said comments?

I lifted some of the clips from her own video; a video that had absolutely no story.  She did however keep all the clips in sequential order of actual appearances.  Which is fine; but I don't see that as storytelling.  THAT story was already told on the show; take the show and try to tell your own story is my line of thinking.

It's always easier to be critical than it is to provide proper feedback.  Anyone can point at something and say it stinks.  That takes no effort, and takes very little time.  Someone who wants to provide creative feedback needs to take the time to do so.

Today I saw a moronic advert. There was on screen graphics and a voiceover.

Quote
Hey, I just got broabdand internet access for free on my mobile. For just fifteen pounds a month, I can plug my mobile into any...

By which point my inner voice was shouting "well it's not for free then is it?!" And as the pretty pictures showed how to plug a mobile phone into any USB port on a PC or Laptop I was still angry that something was being descriebd as free but with ana dvertised rpice.

It wasn't 'till the advert ended that I went "but if you're plugging the mobile phone into a computer, why the hell don't you just use the computer for internet access?"

Not being able to hold a paint brush between my fingers due to an old injury which has flared up. I've tried several times now and it's sheer agony.
