My boss is leaving on the 19th and somebody else is taking over the site - I am a bit concerned over the wages she owes us as she said "you will get paid on the 20th as usual" - hang on a minute we don't work for you after the 19th ............. :paranoid2:
She has had a habit of paying us late over the last 6 years so the fact she is leaving is hardly an incentive to change the habit of a life time - plus she is going on holiday for 3 weeks on the 24th and never answers the phone anyway.
With untaken holiday she owes me the best part of 2000  :hmmm

Is that a change of ownership? Sounds crap! Hope it works out.

Water on the knee, the possible need of special orthotics, and possible early signs of arthritis in my hands.
:( Geez, the last thing you want in this hobby is arthritis in the hands! Hope it's a false alarm!

I'll second that! Although I would add (as a chronic rheumatoid arthritis sufferer for 20+ years) there are some marvellous treatments out there these days, so don't get stressed about it, Leadhead.

Sort of - the company who owns the site (and 380 other fuel stations around the country) doesn't direct manage but franchises out and the incomming bloke already has 2 filling stations in the local area - this is the third time it has happened in 18 years -first time I have been seriously worried about getting paid - she hasn't officially told us she is going yet !

Thanks chaps.  I'm on meds for the knee, hands haven't pained me for a few days, but that doesn't mean anything.  I could just be paranoid about them.  I'm off work until next week, doc's orders.  And yesterday I was able to bend my knee enough to sit in a chair and paint.  And to kick all the good things in the danglies, I had to get one of my cats to the vet this morning, something may be wrong with her.  8:::  Here's hoping she's ok.

Here in Europe the economic situation is getting worse. Probably I'll work as a senior technician for a firm in Switzerland in October...

The hyperactive auto defrost function of our fridge that led to water running out of the fridge and through the kitchen.
Just had to move two heavy shelves in order to move the fridge and have access to the drip pan* so that I could use cotton wool to soak up all the water.
Good thing I actually was home, although the kitchen now is a big mess and I'll have to spent the next few hours cleaning all of that up. But first I need some tea.

*or whatever else you call the thingy where the thawed water gets collected

Managed to misplace my bank card, and only discovered it 20 minutes before having to leave the house for the weekend. This should be fun...

No, them being weirdly over-zealous. I tried to buy a shiny new thing yesterday, from somewhere that I buy from very regularly. For some reason, they decided it was a "suspicious" transaction. But they didn't contact me to query it, they just declined the transaction and cancelled my debit card. But didn't tell me. So I got it declined in the supermarket on the way home from work, too.

Then when I phoned them, it took me almost half an hour on the phone to find out what was going on.

And it went a bit like:

"So you thought that me buying something from a shop I use at least once a month was suspicious?"
"It may have been a different transaction that alerted us."
"But that's the only transaction there's been on the card for the last four days."
"Yes, well it must be that."
"Why hasn't anybody contacted me about it?"
"It's part of our procedure, so we would have."
"I have no missed calls on my phone. Can you check?"
"Ah. It appears we didn't call."
"Why not?"
"I don't know."

It'll be 'around 5 working days' before I get a new card. This is the second time they've done this to me. After I get the new card and I'm sure the account is working normally again, I'm transferring to another bank and closing my account.

Declining a transaction isn't that uncommon, but usually banks do contact people when they decide to invalidate a card. Can understand why you'll be looking for a new bank.

Without wanting to get too tinfoil hat about it, I began to wonder if someone there was deliberately messing me about. I sent a written letter of complaint about their card fraud department in June. I'd had a very bad time dealing with them when I tried to get them to issue a chargeback after I used my card to buy something that never turned up.

And now this. Yeah, I really should take off my tinfoil hat. But it makes me wonder. And it's made me write them another angry letter.

The auto defrost function of our fridge- again.
Good thing last time I placed the shelves further to the side, so at least I didn't have to move them out of the way this time.

Maybe your auto-defrost function wants to be a super-villain when it grows up and is starting small by flooding the kitchen.

One day, it will be Dr Tsunami!

They do grow up so fast. *sniff*
My very own super villain would have certain advantages, though all these silly super heroes crashing through the windows and the inevitable epic battles probably would make insurance bills rise considerably...

Maybe you put it in the freezer, to keep it fresh? Quite a  few people seem to store it that way.

No not in the fridge - how the hell can a nearly 3ft strip of modelling putty disappear into thin air ? :grrr:
I did put some empty plastic storage boxes in the loft last week - might be worth a check later.........

Haven't been online much lately spent a great deal of time flat on my back after herniating three disks two in the lumbar region and one in the thoracic region. I didn't even know you could do that. Funny thing I thought the pain was from my kidney they specialist sent me for some MRI's. They lost my results for 5 months I didn't find out until after collapsing in agony and losing the use of my left leg. Turned out one of my discs had compressed the spinal cord. Been living on pain relief and in and out of hospital finally getting a bit better. Back to hospital for yet more flaming tests. Hardly getting any painting or gaming done. Gah!
