(I can throw orders about but I'm in the RAF not the army... we are a little more civilised

She was very lucky, she does need to get back on as soon as she is able to though. I hope she feels better soon.

Meg was riding the other day in a group in a schooling arena at the equestrian centre and one girl panicked and started screaming which spooked her pony and then set off the 4 other ponies and 2 mares also being ridden ... all of the children came off their ponies/mares like dominos tumbling as their ponies spooked as well. The instructor almost had a heart attack but luckily nobody was seriously hurt as the dirt in the arena was really soft and they were only little ponies who took themselves off to the gate to wait for the instructor once they had lost their riders. Meg has pulled a muscle in her back as she tried to stay on the saddle but ended up falling off which shook her a bit so i got some money out of my savings and went and bought her body armour 'just in case'. She is also under instructions not to go onto a 'pony day' with this other child ever again!

body armour when riding is a very very good thing, second only to a skid lid and gloves.
Sappire penguin ( quite an accomplished horse woman) took a tumble a wile back and you could see the bruise line where the armour had spread the impact and where it haddent.

The optical drive on a brand new PC (less than a month old) now failing to recognise any optical media and insisting there's nothing inserted when there quite clearly is. Warranty claim ahoy

I seem to get that a lot - normally involves opening the draw moving the disc and trying again - annoying but not too much of a problem. Thought it might have been the cheaper DVD rom drive I bought when I got the pc built

Coming second in an eBay auction for a very bulky item that finished when I was staying in the area of the auction. Then to see it resisted a day after I've left for less than I bid on it, but the shipping old now be astonomical £100+

yesterday had all 3 recycle bins nicked from out side hosue within 20 mins of being emptied, went round the shop to get some goodies thought i would get some cash out for goodies and some cash for the week instead of paying by card and asking for cash back, went through all the bumff only to have to be told transaction failed but still took the money of of the account

, got into shop only to find a bloke working on the machine told me money would be returned to my account by middle of week. So still had to pay by card, when i came out the screen had an out of service message on it. Still waiting for the 3rd thing to go wrong

No real bad news more of an update really. My wife and I are now in an adult beginner group class mostly for my benefit but also to help her get her confidence back. They changed the horse I'm on from a large reliable work horse to a faster jumper I am not ready for jumping

Got stung a few minutes ago. By something small, black and stingy, while riding home from work. It hurt, it sucked and was on a really bumpy stretch of road, and I was on my Honda scooter.

I didn't wipe out though.

That's my gripe of the day. Not bad considering all I worked on all day at work was pulling the engine out of a forklift like this

Computers aaaaaaarrrrrgggghhh why won't the dam things work I am currently reduced to working off line with the evily corrupted thing that falls over at the slightest hint of an update,so my current only access to the internet is through my sodding phone on a WiFi link so I can do the invoices for the last couple of months I've been working away

Talking about "neighbours that are a bit noisy" on a "things that piss you off thread", my neighbours are a married couple who are constantly screaming at each other. This usually starts around 7.30 AM and goes on in fits and starts over the course of the day.

Anyone know if there is any way I can put a stop to this on the grounds of disturbing the peace? I have tried blasting Wagner at very high volumes and this works but of course this means that I am actually disturbing the peace in the neighbourhood instead...

Things that piss you off I can only see in one eye atm due to a cyst that abscessed in my right eye. Ten days of anti biotics. Pain, gunk and no reading, painting or riding. Lovely.

Local authorities have Environmental Health Officers who should enforce noise legislation, having said that usually the first thing you get asked to do is keep a diary of the the noise (so thay can see if its worth it I guess).
