I certainly hope so. The doctor was really good about breaking the news to me I'm well aware of my odds, symptoms etc. I just wish he'd said it was getting better :)

@somaticon: I hope things turn out the way you want them to... :( ...

I'm not happy today...I have to go in the gas chamber again tomorrow (it is an annual thing) and breathing in Crowd Suppressant gas is not high on my list of things I like to do. Any thing that is moist (eyes, sweat, lips etc) stings like hell and as soon as that happens, your eyes stream and it makes everything worse :(.

There are a few things in the military that I really don't enjoy (I won't sleep tonight...I never do before the gas chamber :( ).

The light at the end of the tunnel is just someone with a torch, locking the gate.

Sorry Somaticon. :(  I hope it's good news.

Sorry Inso.

My mild irritation: down with the lurgy, a day before a two-weeks-planned trip to Arkham Games with the gaming group.
It won't stop me going, but it might leave me a bit banjaxed...

From 'things that make you happy'...

Time for a bit of levity.  This doesn't make me happy so much as smile and shake my head.  People who cannot park their vehicle within the painted lines, regardless of how small said vehicle is.

Pff.  In my wee village, it would be a miracle if they went anywhere near the lines.  Despite the presence of a car park behind the biggest grocery shop here, people park in the middle of the street, expecting you to weave in and out like Han Solo in the asteroid field.  Serve 'em right if they lost a wing mirror or two.  Quite by accident. :paranoid:

Yeah, it'd be a shame if their mirror happened to occupy the space that a large stick needed to whizz through at speeds approaching the sound barrier.

I saw a fire engine go past one of our local schools once, lights and sirens going. Couldn't quite get through the gap left and no one came rushing from waiting in the playground for little Timmy or whoever. So it sacrificed all their wing mirrors to the great fire god. It was beautiful to watch.
I expect there was a furore later. I sidled home quickly in case they formed a lynch mob at my giggling.

That would truely have been magic to behold.  I doubt I would have been able to contain my laughter.

A few years ago the streets around Sheffield's fire station (right in the centre of the city) used to get parked up with people using disabled badges to park wherever they wanted. After warning from both the Fire Service and the Police and a few bookings for obstruction (which disabled drivers are not exempt from) the Fire Brigade tried a new and improved tactic. They had a snow plough fitted to the front of one fire engine and 'moved' parked cars out of the way with the full knowledge and blessing of the police. I saw it once. Truly heart-warming.

things that really p*** you off.......... calling in favours to help someone and then finding out they havent done what you were under the impression they were doing.
A bank is a place where they lend you an umbrella in fair weather & ask for it back when it starts to rain.

most mornings i wake up grumpy.   sometimes i just let him sleep.

my life consists of brief snatched moments of living my life hidden deep among chaos, confusion& the  going crazy, every night i go to sleep filled with hope & enthusiasm for the new day coming.  then i wake up & think "here I go again" & just aim to survive.

I usually get  few telemarketers phoning during the day, though the 'out of area' message and a couple of seconds of unconnected silence make them easy to spot, so I can put the phone down again before it fully connects.  I did that just now, and the guy called right back to tell me off about my manners!

Hah! I had the filthy 'you have a problem with your computer security' scammers call me. I told them them were a bunch of low life criminals trying a really dim scam and hung up. They called me back and continued their spiel like nothing had happened! I hope you explained to your called, just where he could go. I joined the Telephone Preference Service years ago and that really has cut down on these calls.

I keep getting solar panel salesmen on the phone - at least 6 in the past week even though we are on TPS - I pointed this out to the last one and he turned round and said, "Not according to our records, maybe you ought to try ringing them up and re-registering - anyway what we are offering............."  at which point I put the phone down on him !

PAY ATTENTION PEOPLE - THERE IS NO FUEL SHORTAGE OR STRIKE !
Once again mass hysteria has gripped the masses for no reason, we have sold 3 days worth of fuel in 16 hours yet every person you ask claims they aren't panic buying - course not - I always have queues 3 deep at every pump at 1 in the morning !
As for the local media they have a quote from a garage spokesman which was never made - makes a good story and further adds to the panic !
There will be shortages now as tanks have been drained and there are only so many tankers available for resupply - each tanker can only carry 30,000 litres so our site alone could take 5 in a row just to refill the tanks - multiply that by the number of filling stations around the country and you start to see the scale of the problem..........
Cant wait for a real crisis in this country - society is going to implode - just hope I am as far away as possible when it happens !

OK, this is more of a good news/bad news thing. My rheumatoid arthritis has been running wild for a few months now. I've been in and out of hospital a bit and the treatment they've  suggested is a little frightening, including drugs administered over two days as an I.V. 'drip'. Moreover, it's usually used in conjunction with chemotherapy. I had two years of that and it just didn't work, just made me feel ill. Well, I heard yesterday that I'm being recommended for the new treatment, but without chemo. I need to call on Tuesday to clarify exactly what's happening, but so far, this is terrifying, but probably the best I could hope for at this point.

I've just heard that I start the new treatment at the beginning of next month. While I (obviously) want my condition to improve, this news still scares me.

I know you're worried and it is a big deal, obviously, but I would really think that you try to look at the positives much more than the negatives. This should almost be in the other thread. Things that make you happy. Either way I really hope it goes well for you
