It's marching season again, I'll avoid the politics of it but it usually seems to end in tears for someone.
Wake me when it's all over.

Northern Ireland.

Not just politics, but also religion (and the religious politics, not to mention the politics of religion).

Something went wrong with my mobile's memory card...and it cost me all of my photos, including the load I'd taken over the weekend in Amsterdam.
A friend of mine did something similar when we were in the exact same city a few years ago - although his was self-inflicted, he accidentally formatted his memory card. :mesostupid:

I would say look up Irish history (ECW onwards) as it's more of a religion thing.

Being rushed to hospital with crippling abdominal pains and delusional with extreme temperature only to be released a few days later with pain meds and the message, "We don't know what's wrong with you, but now you don't need a drip you can go home. We might call you back in for some tests later."
Same thing happened last year and it cleared up before they ever found out. Gonna be another case of deja vu if it strikes again I guess.  :grrr:

Keep clear of the politics on the FOD. We've had to remove a post that was pretty stupid already.

The politics of Northern Ireland are a complete minefield...even if this was a political discussion forum, I'd steer well clear of it.

Not speaking from a political point of view, the marching season (where one side of the fence marches in areas that are, or could be considered, the other side of the fence...usually with lots of police protection) always stirs up unrest and for many people living in NI, it is a time of both fear and sadness.

This year a lot of police/people were wounded.

I was living in NI last year, during the marching season and you can literally feel the change in atmosphere when you are out and about.  I have sympathy for anyone who gets caught up in it.

That said, I enjoyed my time in NI because it has some spectacular scenery and places of extreme tranquillity.  The weather wasn't always the best but I can safely say that the greenery and rural areas appreciated all the rain (except when there were the floods of course ;) ).  I'm disappointed I never got to travel South but I'll be saving that sort of thing for when I retire :) (one of my 'things to do before I die' is to fly-fish for Salmon in Southern Ireland).

This reminds me of something I regret. When I lived in England I won a tour around Northern Ireland. I just had to pay for accomodation and flights there. Didn't take it as I needed to save some money. Looking back I had the money at the time and the next chance I'll get to see that place will be a long time away. Oh well, on the to do list now.

Anti Malaria drugs stop me getting any healthy sleep, give me nightmares beyond the demonic when I do get some sleep and they also make me depressed...apart from that, I am leaving my home and family behind for a couple of months to go and live in austere conditions, in a country that is about to have a referendum that is likely to cause huge unrest with the strong possibility of riots and civil unrest...but fortunately, I got some good news...my cheque guarantee card turned up today so at least I'll have some cash on me when I get mugged...

Dont talk to me about cheques ! My boss pays us by cheque on the 15th of each month so they are cleared by the 20th (official payday) She didn't have them until today (19th) which means I had to go back to work at 10 and then to the bank to pay it in - I dont rely on my wages as I have a bit of money saved but I know certain members of staff struggle and have rent to etc to pay and the cheques wont be cleared to friday (23rd).
Oh and to top it all she underpaid me by 10 hours !  :hmmm
Heaven doesn't want me. Hell is afraid i will take over !

the fact that the damm banks are stoping my cash card being a cheque garantee card from next year.............
How am i gonna pay for lead at shows.
and when i went and complained to the bank the woman who was supposed to "listen" to my concern had an attitude of "yeah whatever".  when i ponted out that as a hobby a lot of the companys i purchase fromare small / one man bands, she was of the attitude that there bussnis managers would just sign them up for free banking. so that they could get switch machines.
At least at Mrs Steel Penguins bank they gave the impresion they were listening to our concerns, and making note of them.
a happy dauber

Expecting to receive a check from my client, only instead to receive an email asking if I was going to send the invoice.  I *did* send the invoice.  A week and a half ago.   :swear:

MEN!
Especially men who don't treat their grirlfriends and wives right. Have had far to much contact with womens centers lately (helping out a friend) and at the moment it feels like that means like... ALL men?
Men are bastards!

Discuss this with the Citizens Advice Bureau. I reckon you might have an out given the service provided didn't work.

I, too, had all sorts of problems with BT in the past. Right bunch of merchant bankers.

Bloody Microsoft Office!

I've just rearranging all the Twilight shelves in order, so that I can find everything a bit easier which now means all the labels are wrong. Not a problem thinks I, I'll do every tray its own little sticker and because I can save the template it can be updated and printed again when the next shuffle around happens.

Unfortunately its locked, meaning I can't do s***. I can't even copy and past a document into microsoft office live. I could probably download open office but at the same time I dont really want to be installing things on the office PC without Sallys say so.

Anyone got any better ideas? I could hand write the labels no problem, I just thought it'd look better with stickers.

Type everything into an email, and print the email.

email yourself the email, and you can save the template later on.

Looks like my Freeview+ recorder is about to give up the ghost - the hard drive is making a loud whiring noise and it switches itself on an off 3 or 4 times when you start the machine up -I can afford another one but I have been looking on line and have managed to make my head spin with the different makes and models  The other thing is online sales are fine but you cant actually see how easy menus and stuff are to use and to be pefectly honest I haven't got time to trawl high street shops for demos at he moment
I may just go for another Topfield - problem  is the newer model has a 500GB harddrive which is far more than I need for my tv recording and is going to set me back 200 !  :hmmm
