Rain but no snow here.
One has ones feet up by a raoring fire with a glass of warm eggnog thinking:
It's the middle of summer,
I probably don't need a roaring fire
or warm eggnog.

My computer keeps switching off at inopportune moments and I have a regular grid of discoloured pixels and I need so many new parts it's not funny.
I wonder why you’re talking ‘cos you’re talking all the time
Will you ever get the message and just leave it all behind
The conversation’s trivial but trivial is fine
When held up to the light

What p**s me off? To be at work. 28-29-30-31th December, until evening. And from today on. :tantrum:

A place I sent my CV to like a month ago just sent me an email to let me know they "had nothing for me at this time."

Thanks, I had worked that out.

I'm impressed you got any kind of a response - even a crap and useless one.  Most places aren't even bothering to reply right now.  Most places are  :swear: :swear: :swear:.

Don't mind me, the job search is just getting to be a little depressing.

I left a career I was fairly successful in but blundered into and found unfulfilling to train myself to do something I enjoy... And now can't seem to find work doing.

It's just a pain.

That is a pain, and a common one.  10 years ago I got laid off due to budget cuts, and submitted resumes electronically all over creation. I found a job a few weeks later, but for almost a YEAR after I got hired, places I'd sent resumes started calling with a "Hey, we saw your resume and would like to inteview you...."  Well, where were you back when I submitted my resume?
The trick is to send it directly to someone (almost anyone within the company), and then have them do the legwork for you.  Some companies in my field for example have bonuses and incentives for finding/referring new employees so resumes get passed by hand/specific email addresses (vs the company website with a "send your resume here" button - your resume gets dumped into a pile with everyone else's for them to look through at their convenience).  Either said than done, if you don't have an 'in', but it works better than sending a CV in and hoping it finds its way through the company's system to land in the right place.

Good luck on your job search though!

The process of applying for a car loan finance.  Good LORD does that ever suck.

You got someone making a judgement about your character based upon a print out.  Usually the person across the table from you acts as if its beneath them to have to deal with you.

Hate the whole process.

Luckily I have no car, because my firm takes it for me.

I've had chicken pox for over a week, and I'm getting sick of it.

I want to go to my nice air-conditioned workplace.

I feel for you, it's probably not that bad if you get it when you're about 5 or 6.

I got it when I was 22...

Feeling sick...
Just undercoated my bathroom but obviously I should have worn a mask. Have felt horrid for the last 2 days, dizzy and a mother of a headache. Ugh.

Paying tax to cover up all the mistakes of the unelected idiot that runs this country, the pointless quangos that make life a misery, and the gold-plated pensions of the bureaucratic non-jobs that contribute nothing but hassle to the rest of us trying to earn an honest wage.

Having already paid a frighteningly large amount of tax this year, i've just been stiffed for another £250 on top for good measure.

Oh joy.

And what do I get in return for a tax bill, the size of Bolivia?

Virtually nothing, except the contempt of a government that seems determined to label anyone successful as some sort of war criminal, and the prospect of paying even more tax next year, for even less in return.

Pain pure unabating pain makes it hard to think and When I go shopping the looks people make seeing you struggle to use your left arm. Some people seem determined to make you feel small and useless when you have a visible disability.

Joggers.  The world would be so much better off without them.  What is it about jogging that causes someone to lose all regard for anyone else's personal space?  I have a bruise on my arm today to attest to this.

Joggers? That's a new one. I have more of a problem with mobile phone addicts. Walk out in front of cars, walk in front of people, generally ignore the world around them because they are too busy talking, reading, typing.

Put the bloody thing away and notice the real world around you for a moment!  :tantrum:

On a far more serious level I hate the Melbourne Herald-Sun. We have 2 'newspapers' here, the Age (broadsheet) and the one most people read, the 'Hun' (or sometimes known as the 'small paper' ...helps if your mind is also small).

For the last 2 days the Hun's front page has featured stories like 'Legal Pot' (something they've dredged up to get a reaction from their right-wing readership, about some doctors wanting to give Marijuana to MS patients) and some stupid story about a tennis players boyfriend misbehaving on an aeroplane.

Strange that there could be 100,000 people dead in Haiti. Hun readers obviously don't care about that type of thing...

Actually, any of those athletic types who feel everyone else should be willing to get out of their way; instead of being polite and going around.

I once got shoved over by two roller bladers on a vacation in Washington DC as I walked to the Jefferson Memorial.  I did see the two of them, sitting on the marble steps to the Memorial; and seeing the sign that said "No rollerblades allowed?"

I approached a DC police officer, told him what had happened while walking up to the Memorial, and asked, "Any way you can boot those two from the Memorial?  It would make my day."

The officer laughed and did escort them off of the Memorial grounds.

Joggers, rollerbladers, cyclists; all of them who can't be polite to the common pedestrian are on my hit list.
