3rd Place: A DoD (Stand-off)
« on: November 01, 2007, 04:38:29 PM »
:lurk:

Oh, hi. First post. Some of you may know me from some other forums. On this one I've just lurked. I also do some generic frothing. Now, back on topic. Andy asked me to post this so here we go.

More here.

After seeing all these entries, I must say that these QOD minis are made of pure adventure. It's great to see all these encounters everywhere from dark dungeons to deep space. Congrats to everyone who also brought their bit of tin tweaking into the contest and good luck!

I think I'll stay.

I love that. Lighting is sublime. Gives the whole thing quite a gritty feel.  :applause: :applause: :notworthy:

Hey :welcome: to FoD and that is a really lovely DOD entry. So much atmosphere, not only from the obvious lighting effects, but with the choice of models too. Nice work, congrats!  :applause:

I can, and they're gorgeous! A deceptively simple scene, but the paint job is both masterwork and evocative. What a way to enter the forum! Welcome! :applause:  :notworthy: :applause:  :notworthy: :applause:

Trying to steal away in the night are we?

Excellent work

As has been said already, the lighting is fantastic. The shadows are so realistic. Lovely

Great lighting effects on the paint job. The pirate seems particularly confident in the face of them there black powder thingamiwidgets. Of course it could also be read that it was that moment of surprise where our stalwart hero turns, weapons drawn, to a sound to find it's an old compatriot thought long dead in the belly of a killer whale.
I think I'm liking the making up stories to go with the dioramas bit. Excellent work.

A great scene. The lighting effects are very nice, as everyone else has said. Perhaps the woman could have been a little darker as I think the dwarf would be casting a shadow on her, but that's being picky.

I love the colours and texture of the water ...looks real. Probably the best I've seen.  :notworthy:
Heron Island photos done! See blog...

CH: Pics mirrored here. If that doesn't work either, check any adblockers/filters.

Thanks for all the comments this far. I have some inconsistent WiPs in my camera. I'll try to post them with commentary when I find some time.
