Bad Castings??
« on: September 15, 2006, 07:42:01 PM »
Recently our caster has employed someone to help him.  Adam ( Black Scorpion) brought to light some issues he had with his castings and until now i havent had a chance to check our latest restock.

Last week Neil (who packs for us) showed me a very high level of rejections which caused me concern and so Craig had the pleasure for two days this week of checking the last months restock of about 58 codes.  I have also been checking as well.

The level of miscasts is appalling and we have demanded the whole batch be recast.  In a usual code restock of (for example) 300 Jess we would expect about 1 - 2% rejections.  Neil found in a batch of 100 Harem girls all rejected due to a bad mould line across the face.

However our caster is in the middle of casting the next set of releases due out and so cant re-cast the bad codes until after the new releases ( and Adams stock) has been finished.  I have a good stock level of most codes so i dont see any problems with filling orders but thought that i had better alert you all.

Anyhow, some bad castings have got out into circulation.  Over the summer Jen and Kieran helped me (and earnt themselves some cash) by bagging up a few codes and it is only now ( as i have been ill) that i have got around to labelling them and found that a high proportion are not to our usual standard.

If you have ordered from us in the last 6 weeks and have any problems with deep mould lines or a a mis-cast then please contact me and i will be happy to replace the item.  the codes mainly affected are 'Little bits' and Isabelle ( Jen likes packing Isabelle as she doesnt have a base and Kieran likes to pack monsters and guns!!)

Sorry for any inconvenience caused

Sally :)

oh and to cap it all off ( why i am in a moaning mood and as if i didnt have anything else to worry about) one of the restock items 'Imogens wings' has been pulled from the mould so badly that it has obviously torn and he has carried on casting them even though it is obvious that the mould is damaged.  This means that we will need to get a new production mould made.

Some of the nubian females were taken from the mould so quickly that the necks are bent over and fractured 1/2 way through!!

Glad to say that the situation is now resolved.

It meant that we ( Craig, Neil, Kev & I ) had to go through every single restock casting that had arrived since June this year but at least now it is done.

I have a box on the workshop floor approximately 18 inches x 18 inches  x 18 inches full of miscasts.  Horrendous when you think that for the first two years we had only had a very small box that the occassional miscast was thrown into.

Basically Ep has agreed that only he casts our stuff now and the new guy wont get assigned to us.  In case Ep didnt suggest this we had looked into alternate sources for casting and had a shortlist of two
put by.

The first batch of the new restocks arrived today and Kev went through them and only found 4 miscasts on one of the codes and the other 5 codes were perfect......back to our usual standard.!
