What have you bought lately and why
« on: August 17, 2006, 11:01:01 AM »
Dont often buy metal.............i think it is because i am

a) surrounded by it all day,.............the novelty wears off a bit!
b)  skint
c)  darent start buying in case i go into an uncontrollable retail splurge, refer then again to  b)

but surfing the other night i just couldnt resist buying 'Puffy the pompous dragon' from ollies armies.  ...along with three Essex minis....halflings on ponies. I think the Essex ones will just get put away with the rest of my lead mountain by Puffy i think is something that i might just get around to painting ...one day.  It arrived this morning and fits together luverly

shhh..............dont tell Kev!

What have I brought laterly in the way of figures.

Um lets see

Heresy and Hasslefree both had quiet a bit of my miniatures money for the last few months. With Grymn from hasslefree, and lots of random figures from heresy to be used in RPG's and just generally because I like the figures.

Other than that, PP horde figures (trollblood champions, mauler).

Haven't really bought much lately, got another one of Kev's guards from TFT and some gravestones, a bit of 15mm demon world and a resin Gort for a mate. Oh and some of Adam's western females/

The to buy list is starting to grow again, will be having a few things from the next set of releases from HF and have a couple of ghoul kings on pre-order.

I've been on a bit of a spending spree for the last couple of months.

I've had some Pirates and Grymn from Hasslefree, because I hadn't got any yet.  I bought a load of stuff from Heresy.

Yesterday a parcel turned up from Antenociti, with loads of cool terrain and basing stuff.

I bought a few bits from Wyrd, coz I'm a sucker for chicks in fancy clothes with large bladed weapons.

I'm getting all the Tombstone figures from Black Scorpion on Saturday I want to run a Deadlands or Wierd West game, so I'm just getting the minis in while I wait for inspiration)

A new shelving unit to store my DVDs, the collection had outgrown its previous storage and the newest stuff was just gettting annoying on the floor.

On the 'to buy' list....

Trixie from Morgan Keith Studios
Some stuff from MSB toys
The Ghoul King and Demonic Minions from Heresy (when they are released)
A Haren Diorama Piece (I just need to find somewhere to put it first)
Some new brushes (my favourite ones are starting to show their age)

I've been stingy lately so been mucking around with old minis.  Last major purchase had been months ago (my shadowforge orcs, for blood bowl obviously).

And then I caved in and bought some heresy because it was on sale!  now have to wait for the ghoul king to get done.

Also my friend sent off an order for some Croc games egyptus stuff he hope to turn into blood bowl figures so I piggy back his order and got a few goodies for myself as well just because.

Ive been trying to cut back on what I buy in the way of minis so that I might actually get some stuff painted.
However, the Diorama competition, Hasslefree's sale and heresy's free shipping didnt help me much and with all three of those things I had to submit and buy something.
My latest offerings to my lead mountain include-

A Confrontation Sophet Drahas model.
All of the Hasselfree harem girls (not including Nubian guards)
Big Boris MKII from Heresy (where else would it be from? :P)
Kalee (b)
2 Grymn
Man bat vampire
Dark lord
Ferals
Hellbeasts
Waspquitos
Skullmasher.

So, as I said before; I'm cutting down on what I buy in the way of minis.

Sadly, I can't give in to the great Heresy sale because I'm skint.  :( I definatley wouldve bought £60 worth of Heresy stuff if I had more than £60 to spend.

I just ordered Morgan Keith's plant lady (can't remember her name).  I drooled over the Drider, but passed - maybe next time...

Sola, Stalks, and Bonnie & Clyde were waiting in the mail for me when I got home from vacation (Thanks, Sal!).  They are primed and ready for painting - to be used as scouts/spies/snitches for the Grymn I have.

I won an OOP Citadel Eternal Champion Jhary A Conel fig off of Ebay.  He's getting painted, and almost complete.

So much stuff waiting in the to-be-painted line, I feel guilty ordering new items, but not guilty enough to resist buying anyway!
(That said, I can't wait for the next HF release!)

What have I bought lately?

Car tax, Cat inoculations...oh sorry, miniatures wise?...

Four units of Grymn (10 stormtroopers and 3 heavy weapon squads for wh40k).
Five Grymn conversion packs.
Two human weapon sprues.
Paint.
Some old Xabungle plastic kits (Japanese Mechs).

But I will be buying something else soon...I'm not sure what... but I NEED TO BUY SOMETHING  (it relaxes me ;) ).

I've bought...

Lot's of HF stuff - because it's lovely and you guys hade a sale
Some Heresy ghouls and a few other things - because they rock and the pre-order price was irresistable
Some Freebooter stuff - because they're generally so great that even the prices won't stop me

and a couple of Chinese kung-fu films on DVD - because I'm a sucker for that kind of stuff

Well, for the next year Im still paying for this:

But miniatures wise, you should know since I've placed a couple of large orders with you in the last two months and plan on another in September.  I've also placed several large orders with Heresy, including some of the SB stuff that I have been pining for some time over.  I also made some purchases on ebay, the most notable one of which is this shadowrun troll produced by Ral Partha in 2000:

Shadowrun Troll on Ebay

and some pen and ink artwork from the same seller, some of which I plan to get framed:

I am in the process of buy 80 sheets of 200gsm glossy photo paper/card for modelling (notably the massive Serenity model taking up 68 of that)

My last purchase was Firefly, and before that, two expensive (yet reduced) jackets, and before that the orders for HF and Heresy. I really need to save some money now. :(

Oh my... I do need to get me some of those. They will be perfect for my mom. She will laugh her head off I'm sure. (She takes care of the elderly as a job). I bet they don't take paypall though.... nope they don't.... guess that's it then... they are brilliant.

As for miniatures bought. My order with Heresy were my last miniatures bought. Still a few miniatures i want from various ranges... but they have to wait for a bit.
