Not so much 'wont buy'  I just have not been in a position to go for the large scale...

Don't need or want a bigger scale, just more great Kev sculpts in the regular 28mm would be a-okay with me.  Like that dynamic Ashlee or some more FF figs but preferably not holding balls.

Looks like I'm the only one to vote for 40mm :blub:
In the war-torn darkness of the future, there is only Grymn.

Deep Space Nine: Officially not as good as Stargate.

If you field an overwhelming force against a paltry number of defenders, whatever you do, make sure the defenders are not English!

Personally I really like the larger scale stuff, Sacred Blade and Monolith Designs do some fantastic stuff and it's a joy to paint. What sort of thing would you do Kev? Would be great to see a large scale Grymn in full armour with alternate heads/helmets.

as a display piece, 40mm would be cool.  the trouble with a 40mm model though is that as its bigger than the 28s  and smaller than the 54s means a veery limited bits pool as parts from either scales wouldn't look quite right thus limiting conversion scopeto basicaly weapon swaps for either a smaller more realistically scaled weapon or a bleep off huge blasting doom fest cannon.  Forget about head swaps or anything along those lines.  As a side note, I'm working on resculpting GW space marines to be 40mm tall yet somehow still compatible with current weapons (pretty easy though as it produces  more realistic scale for the heads, hands and weapons)

Most monsters would be exempt from these difficulties but monsters dont exactly conform to normal rules of scale.  Girlies and other "normal humanoids" would suffer the most from the conversion limitation

I lost the original prototype I was working on (along with a small Imperial Guard army when my girlfriend/now wife moved in so I had to make room for her stuff) so I started again this is the nowhere near completed prototype mk II tru-scale Space Marine just to show the scale I'm after

It also helps to demonstrate the scale difference (and saves me the bother of lining up 20, 25, 28, 30, 35 and 50mm miniatures to show the difference).

Kev... I have around 60  40mm figures and 1  54mm figure....... I game with them not just display.... so display pieces are not what I am personally after. But I started this thread because  more people appear to be collectors/painters here with your figures than gamers, and I wondered what the majority would want.

Equal numbers would buy 40mm that would ONLY buy 54mm.... (at the moment)  I don't know if that is influenced by your existing 54mm figure or not... or by the "collectors" market.

But it is interesting anyway... I hope I got the options right.. no one appears to have complained yet. LOL

I put both, though in retrospect I would prefer 40mm, I've got 1 or 2 40mm figures and they actually do work great as larger folk - some Norse inspired 40mm would be greatly thematic against the various celtic 28-30mm figures I've got.
In some comic-esque or Manga-esque RPGs it does sometimes come into play having someone literally larger than life.

In short, 40mm I can actually use in gaming, while 54mm is essentially just a display piece - and my painting standard isn't high enough to justify (though if I take a shine to one, I might pay my artist mate to paint it up - like I did with the 54mm? Deneghra from Privateer).

Especialy if they're historical norse, not rubbish 50's comic strip hollywood stuff. That'd be great.

Well, yeah - though for the right game cheesy hollywood/comic-booky types are actually pretty cool.
Though in general I prefer realistic figures for anything vaguely historical.
