Yeah, enter him. It's not like you painted him many moons ago and now try to sneak him into the competition.

Really??!  Cool!!!  :boing:  I haven't done any more work on him since the last photo I posted anyway, so I'm not miles ahead of anyone else. I am going to have to rethink the base now though!! :paranoid2:

Really like the idea with this one :lalala:

Got the minis I needed from Andy a few days ago and already completed 1/3rd. One mini down one to go and the base. WIP on my blog if you want to see it.

Going to struggle on the base I think, how do I cut up the fiance's cork placemats without her noticing?

PS to fill in gaps on cork matting is it just a case of a was of thinned PVA Glue?

I've come up with an interesting idea for this one, contrasting what the two companies do best, while still blending them into a cohesive piece. Well the ideas good, we'll see how long the actual practice takes...  :erm: I'll keep it to myself until construction is complete. Don't want anybody else to take the idea and do it better than me!

I've some minor conversion work and base construction to do, hopefully in the next week or two I'll be ready to post some pre-painted pics. Surprisingly (for me) the conversion should be the easier part of this project. I hate painting wings!  :whaaa:

Heron Island photos done! See blog...

ooh just one question (as if you haven't had enough)
I know it needs to have Hasslefree and Heresy miniatures on it but does one of the Spyglass figures class as a Heresy fig (since it's sold on the Heresy Site) or do u just want actual Heresy figures?
just asking coz one of my ideas leans more towards that angle

I'm just wondering what qualifies a person as pro or am. previous comps? and by previous comps would that be painting and sculpting or just painting?  The mind boggles.....

One more question:

I've never done a diorama before.  Is it necessary for the figs to be pinned directly to the base?  I would like to have the figures on their regular round bases, painted to fit the scenery of course, but not actually attached to the scenery.
Would that still qualify as a diorama?

Nope.
Take the bottom picture you listed for an example.
Lift the guy with the sword out of the hole.  Paint the edges of the base to include the grid pattern.
Set him down just to the right of the hole (which gets filled in and properly painted).

He will technically be on a raised circle, but it will be painted to match the surrounding floor.
Perhaps it would work better with one of the front guys on dirt.  If they were standing on the dirt instead of sunken into holes.

If you don't want to keep them on the diorama then just pin the to the base (no glue) and after you have taken the pictures, all you have to do is pin and glue them to the base you want.

Does that help any.

I will probably do that, but it's not what I wanted to do.  See, I'm including some diecast model cars.
They aren't quite the right scale, slightly large.  The figures would look better next to the cars if raised slightly by being on bases.  It would look more like they look during a game, except instead of being on felt or whatever, they would be standing on a carefully designed and painted base.
Anyway, if I do it as you say, with pins, I can do it both ways, and take photos both ways.
I think it was said there's no rule against WIP shots.

Man I really need to get started on this.

Sounds nice! I'm in, haven't got much else to paint anyway... :erm:  :?

Being a 'Worthless Imp' does that mean I'll be in the amateurs-cathegory if there'll ever be a difference??

*rapidly changes subject*

Well all my stuff is ordered along with pots of tcr, tcy and tcg. So far, I only have the heresy bits but judging by previous orders, my HF ones should arrive soon.
