I thought I would add my Tiriel from CCV here, to the gallery she most belongs :)

Stunning man, just stunning

It got votes from me on both categories on CC

That is probably the most outstanding piece of direct light sourcing I have ever seen, not to mention some bloody fine nmm work and basing to boot

Yeh you got votes from me on this one.I think Jason was a bit harsh when summing things up too.
I think there were technically better figures in the comp but the overall look and feel to this was way ahead.
Only critacism would be I think the shadows on the wall should be more diffused. The lighting is awesome.

Thanks all!  Looking back at this project I definately would have done things a touch differently.  I'm happy with how the figure is painted, however the base I think would have gotten a complete redo (which I may still do one day)

I was at a place where I wanted to try to combine 2d and 3d techniques where I think it would have done better to actually use 3d bricks to build the base and wall and make it a bit more...realistic.

I also agree about the shadows, and it was a result of my choice above, when I diffused the shadows too much which I had done at first, with the freehand brickwork, it made it look kind of too blurry, it didn't look right either.  I think with real bricks I will have more freedom with the shadows as well.

hmmmm, I am getting inspired now to redo the base, I'll have to put it on the to-do list :)

Thanks for the feedback all!

That's a stunning piece, great lighting effect!

It really shows how mini painting is 2d painting on a 3d surface.  I gotta take some art classes!
