My Pirate: 'Stalks'
« on: December 12, 2005, 09:36:09 AM »
May I present Stalks: While not a coward as such, I do imagine him to prefer not to get involved too much in conflicts - standing towards the back and using his blunderbuss very much as a last resort...

He's possibly more inspired by Kev's 'Mos Eisley' comment than traditional pirates... I started him a day or two after after Kev announced the competition (sitting out in the sun - it seems so long ago...), and he's been standing on the corks watching me for the last few months while I've plucked up courage to finally finish him off. The impending deadline has finally encouraged me to get on with it!
He's quite a little chap, standing slightly shorter Kjaran:

Although I feel slightly embarrassed to stand him next to one of Kev's pieces, I thought it would be the easiest way to show relative sizes! His gun and hands are a single, separate piece, and I just need to add a tab so that he is completely finished!

He's lovely. Exactly what I had in mind for the more alien type of entries.
In the war-torn darkness of the future, there is only Grymn.

He's that big? He looked more gnome sized. He actualy looks like he hides at the back, ducking behind cover and cowering untill he can sneak up behind someone and give them a pointblank spray of buckshot while they're not looking. The two eyestalks looks like a sort of defensive paranoid peripheral vision thing to look out for danger and his posture looks edgy and nervous.

Shorter than a grymn and you think he looks big?

Apart from that your description sounds just about spot on. :)

Nope. Kjaran is a dwarf/grymn (depending on what you're using him as).

In that case, thank you very much for the comment - sounds like I've scaled him about right then   :D

I imagine Stalks is probably a bit of a one-of-a-kind...

Just curious: Did you mix brown stuff and green stuff for this one? Looks like it but it could be the pic.
Just got my first batch so now I can try this famous mix. Just did a minor detail so far and it seems really nice to work with.

Nope, just plain green stuff for this one. I've used brown stuff a few times, and generally really like the result (in certain circumstances). But then I forget about it and go back to the green stuff...
I've not tried much mixing yet, but really should at some point!
