GF9 TANKS!
« on: December 23, 2016, 09:18:02 AM »
I have managed to swerve things like Flames of War up 'til now as there are way too many cool models and I would just end up throwing money at it so Tanks is a nice halfway house to quench my needs for now :)

really enjoyed doing this stuff!

Allies here, various versions of the Sherman with a Cromwell and Comet thrown in for good measure

I can never stop tinkering so I made up my own damage tokens for the game :)

Smaller plumes/fires come in handy for localised damage such as engine and optics and the tracks can simply be slotted under the tanks to show, well, damaged tracks!

Couple of Allied Tank Hunters finished, the crew are 1/100 figures that you can get for railways and such, just a little re-posing here n there

Excellent stuff :) .

Are they for 10, 12 or 15mm?

15mm Inso, really enjoying this scale, might even break open those All Quiet on the Martian front when I am done here!

Started on some scenery for the games, opted for the 1/76 scale airfix buildings. I prefer this larger scale as I can live with the slight off scale (hardly noticeable tbh and anybody who complains while having fun blowing the snot out of each other can go do one in my books) the Larger than life buildings also make it easier to move things around and in them in my experience, not to mention thee things are bloody awesome and lots of fun (and quick) to paint :)

All are resin apart from the command post which I converted slightly to create a nice repair depot for the tanks to pull into, will make for a nice interactive scenery piece and objective

I really like this one... Reminds me of the classic Airfix Forward Command Post that I always wanted as a kid;

Painted up a little more scenery and couldn't resist this after watching one of my favourite war films over the Xmas :)

Start humming 'Burning Bridges'

Nobody said nothing about locking horns with no Tigers. ...

Made up a couple of LCM's for a beach landing scenario I want to play, they are 1/76 scale so not historically accurate as they can carry two tanks but this makes them much more game friendly and should allow the allies to at least get off the beach and not litter the beach with burning Sherman wrecks! It also saved me buying four kits as I am a tight northerner :)

Interestingly they can also transport up to 3 Tie Fighters :P

Had some fun breathing a little life into the boring flat tokens that come with the op packs. Mine rollers, mine fields, dragon's teeth and bunkers. Not to mention a few of my own objective tiles such as the fuel dump, ammo re-supply and downed Typhoon. came up with a cute, cheap and wuick way to represent destroyed bunkers too, simply created an alternative roof that simply slips over one of our smoke markers, battlefield bling is maintained...right, better get some painting done, have a game planned for next week!

Painted up a few support vehicles and objective tanks, also created some little plugins for the trucks for a little extra bling and to keep score on some 'resource building' style games we plan

Created my own set of modular trenches for 15mm gaming, should be cool to use for All Quiet on the Martian front when I finally get round to painting it too!
