Well not so much Thundarr, but post-apocolyptic swords and sorcery.  Barbarrian, wizards, chimera, dune buggies, ...

Wow...that triggered so much vague nostalgia of an infanthood hero, it's untrue. Had a he-man style (he-man blatantly ripped it off in fact)transofrmation from muscled barbarian, to well, muscled barbarian wearing a helmet? Some sort of  magic weapon and possibly a dragon friend?

I haven't got a clue what you are all on about :?
In the war-torn darkness of the future, there is only Grymn.

Deep Space Nine: Officially not as good as Stargate.

If you field an overwhelming force against a paltry number of defenders, whatever you do, make sure the defenders are not English!

I recall a barbarian with a laser sword, his super-strong cat-like humanoid companion, and a dusky-skined sorceress in light blue clothing.

And I swear on Charlton Heston’s magic laser sword that I truly do not give a flying crap.  Apologize to my hat.

I never really caught the Jedi refs when I watched that show (talking 1980-82 when I remember it), but I do remember their blatant rip-off of the Mobile Suit Gundam 'Core Fighters'.

I was more of a fan of the Filmation/Nelvana (?) Flash Gordon cartoon that aired the same time.

Ah, Saturday morning cartoons...  nothing like waking up at 7am, and enjoying a self-inflicted diabetic coma on sweetened cereal in front of the TV.
Unladylike Karate Chops, and Ungentlemanly Haymakers!

Maybe it was the Clangers you were thinking of Andy, they did have a Soup Dragon and the magic Notetree.

No one said it was original.  It's PA Conan with character's designed by Jack Kirby.  Still it's very cool pulpy genre mash.

When he recovers he finds himself on the planet Sagar. He is befriended by the Trobbits, a race of gnome like people. All is not well on their world. Nope, not him.
This was a cartoon that was on at the same sort of time as Space Ghost.
Barbarian.  Possibly a young boy barbarian, with a magic club that changed him into a masked adult barbarian who could fly.

I must know!

PS

Wow! So much ripped-off stuff in one package...but... trobbits!

Based on conversations at the local gaming club it might've been called Captain Caveman.
Balgin Stondraeg, proud member of Clan Stondraeg, son of Guthram, husband of Urwena, brother to Hengrek, Murnak and Dradan. Father of Cigfa. Miserable old fool to disrespectful friends.

Definitely NOT Captain Caveman. It sounds like you're describing Mighty Mightor:

Quote
The Mighty Mightor is a prehistoric Superhero, who protects everyone in a giant village. His Secret Identity is Tor, a Teenage Caveboy, who raises a Club, which an old hermit gave to him, and shouts, "Mightor!", and is transformed into Mightor himself! Some of Tor's Friends are Chief Pondo, her Daughter, the beautiful Sheera, her funny, Mightor pretending Kid Brother, Little Rok, Tog the Dragon, Ork the Dodo Bird and Bolo the Wooly Mammoth. In most of these Episodes, Mightor battles Villains, such as Korg, Brutor the Barbarian, The Plant People, The Tiger Men, The Serpent Queen, Etc.

Mighty Mightor!
And I swear on Charlton Heston’s magic laser sword that I truly do not give a flying crap.  Apologize to my hat.
