There's www.minisculpture.co.uk/, although it's not particularly active.

Worth posting, as you'll get an answer, just not much traffic

I was going to recommend the same place. It's run by Vermis who frequents here.

Edit: Woah, said ruin instead of run, Oops  :lmao:

Have you tried facebook at all? Probably some mini sculpture things there. Although facebook doesn't have a great layout like forums do.

What sort of thing are you going for... general or a specific theme?

The thing with sculpting is that you will get fifty different tips for the same thing, some will work for you and others won't and you could be the unlucky one that gets discouraged before you reach the ones that work.

You mentioned about leaving the Green Stuff for five minutes before starting... I don't... I use it straight away and any that I am not using will be stuck to my hand to keep it warm and pliable.

I am a great advocate of just going for it and learning through trial and error. You will find what works for you by practicing... it is something that takes time.

A tutorial or guide may be great but it may be complete rubbish for your particular way of sculpting.

General advice is:

Try different putties to find out which one you like best.
Keep your tools clean and when using them, keep them moist.
Build onto a frame/armature.
Work in layers and don't be afraid to stop.
Practice... practice... practice... practice...
Every sculpt failure is a lesson learned.

I've been sculpting on and off for a while and am always trying different putties and blends. different tools and ways of sculpting the same thing in different ways. I think its more that I miss being at collage surrounded by other creative people all bouncing ideas off each other and working together on projects.

In that case, maybe you would be better served by going to sculpting classes than looking at tutorials. I know that Kev sometimes does sculpting courses and having someone there to help with specific issues would probably be more beneficial to you.

There are always going to be times when you are not happy with a particular technique... and that is when a specific tutorial or on line 'help me sculpt this thing that I am struggling with' plea in a forum would be of use... but even then, you would still need to weigh up all the different advice and decide what works best for you.

Patience and practice are your most valuable tools.
