Hi inso, steel penguin...

Yeah I've been away a while, poor health and a few other things... Thought I'd drop by my once favoured hang out....

Me too. Still here. Such a pity that the traffic here has really come to a halt. I must paint up more of my heresy kickstarter stuff to show.

I pop in most days to check new posts, but they seem to be an endangered species.
I blame Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, as these are getting the news feeds first - I think?  :erm:

With the amount of miniatures based groups on Facebook, it doesn't surprise me that traffic on the forums has died off... it isn't just this forum that is affected, lots of forums I visit are like ghost towns :(

It's a shame because I can't get Facebook at work :D!

I'm still here. I check the place every day but I don't post anymore coz I rarely get to paint anything.

Still here a bit.  Have not painted in quite some time.  Tinkered with a few injection plastic kits lately.  Hope to tinker some more then share what's been going on.

Well, hello at least to some old friends, glad to know you are all still here!

I opened a box over Easter containing 34 old crow vehicles and before I knew it had spent the rest of the day gluing and modelling...

So I think I may have the bug back again after a long time ill/away.

Now... Where can I find a small one man (grymn) recon flier, or parts to make one. I'm thinking lift fans, minimal weaponry, no more than 75mm, 4" long.... Angular like old crow models rather than curvy...

All ideas and suggestions welcome.

Helpful as ever Inso thanks.

That eBay one is interesting in design but way too big.

I have the pardulon one as well as the similar antenociti's firefly, both good but too big for my current idea.

Stylistically I like the first miniature scenery one , I had forgotten about them, I like the single rotor design and compact size but dislike the "I AM MADE OF MDF" look, though I admit they do push the envelope of what's possible in laser cutting. But that first one is just the kind of squat dumpy simple industrial look I want! Thanks I hadn't thought one rotor - the engineer in me says no, but this time I may not listen ;-)

I'd forgotten about maxmini too.

Lots to think about. Although I maybe buy more of these from zinge industries (I have one set) and fabricate a body myself, pair of lift fans over a slim cockpit, and a very very short tail, nose cannon and fixed landing gear, passable as a large drone as well as one man recon vehicle. http://zinge.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&path=110_76&product_id=70

I need three so I may toy with cad and then 3D print.

Thanks for fuelling the muse.

 :metoo:

Those are the ones I used on the Hasslefree flier. They're likely too big for what I need the smallest size is 30mm and that's the largest of the zinge industries ones.

I'm still here! Mostly lurking... Haven't painted anything for months, since things went a bit crater-shaped in my life a while back. ...I'm working on setting up a workbench in my new place, though, and I'm hoping to start in on some Kickstarter games (Zombicide: Black Plague, B-Sieged) to get my edge back again. I've got a bunch of Fenris & Hasslefree minis waiting for the brush when I'm feeling confident again!

Thank you all for the suggestions. Some great new stuff I hadn't seen.

However nothing that quite grabbed my attention and met what was in my imagination.

I do like this that inso suggested
http://miniaturescenery.com/ProductPage.asp?CODE=VH1ZEPENG

But not in MDF, and possibly with two rotors/fans, not one.

So... I have "A Plan!"

Involving...

And plasticard and green stuff and brass wire.

To make something to land on these...

It's a damned shame that this thread hadn't turned up in February... I had five of those Jedi spaceships sat in a drawer doing nothing so I sold them on :( . I would have sent you one...

Do you already have one? If not, the pod is perfectly sized for a Grymn pilot so it will work nicely :)

You can check in, but you can never leave. Well, you can. But you'll always be a part of it.

Seriously though, the majority of people are on social networks these days and have apps and stuff and suchlike. Yer old-fashioned bulletin board isn't as cool as it once was...

Goodness, I hadn't realised that it was becoming a ghost town. I feel bad for not checking in more often.
I'm not respectable, and never sensible - I've been incredible, so damned irascible..
..and I like the things I do, so hooray for me.
