Netherlord (spiney fella version)
« on: June 18, 2015, 04:09:50 PM »
Has this big guy for years and finally got around to painting him

It was really weird trying to paint him using the same techniques I am used to for figures the size of this one's fist, but once you get used to the scale shift it was actually really good fun to paint. I now have a Netherlord Mk II that is calling out of a bit of brush work.

Well he really looks suitably impressive.

Did not realise how big those spikes were before now.

Brilliant, Ben! Also impressed by the fact you managed to take a photo of it wihtout it distorting too much. Very tricky to photo, that model!

The spines are doing my head in in resin - big mouldlines...

Very nice. I also have this one locked away somewhere. I thought about blue, it looks really good on him.
Andy, would metal spines work better with mould lines?

Most impressive Ben, and the only critque I can offer is that the faces on the blade need a bit more highlighting to make them pop.

Cheers guys :)

@ Steve - You are quite correct. I did try to highlight them more but it made the sword look odd so I toned it down again. Not sure the best way to do it, but I am starting to think it starts with dremelling the thing off hand :)

Very nice, great job. I don't like the green sword though to be honest, draws the eye away from the excellent paint on the demon fella, well does for me anyway.

Perhaps make the sword black, then highlight up to green? Great paintjob anyway; and kudos on the non-standard colour scheme! Now we know what happens when a smurf plays with wyrdstone...

Great Job Ben!  You have inspired me to dig out the one I have with wings still in my storage.  I think I left it with the bottom half put together and the rest partially assembled.  Been there for years. Have always loved your paint work but I agree that the sword just doesn't fit.  Maybe purples with green highlights to make them flash?

Cheers Seamus (long time no see!)

Get your's out and painted! the demon that is...

And the more I look at the pics the more I agree with everyone. I wanted to go for something different but maybe it just didn't quite work :)  It'll get a repaint at some stage
