What dissolves (or softens) green stuff?
« on: March 23, 2015, 10:25:57 AM »
I have a Battlefleet Gothic ship I bought second hand and it seems to be around 15% green stuff. I've tried my usual solvents of choice with little to no success. Does anyone out there have any recommendations? As always, thanks in advance for any help.

Best,
Mike

No problems! Acetone does the trick. It just takes a while.

As an aside I saw a youtube clip of Mountain dew dissolve a rat over 30 days. Could be useful lol

I know soaking an old lead mini in Dettol will soften both Milliput and Araldite.

My usual stripping mixture takes Milliput out easily, but GS is more resistant, hence my question (and answer!).

Should I every need to dispose of a rat corpse before the rodent police can pin anything on me, I'll bear that in mind beefcake.  :D

If the green stuff is on METAL miniatures, you can use Nitromors paint stripper on it... that will dissolve anything other than the metal.

Don't use it on plastic though...

Yep, Nitromors is the one - dissolves skin as well (or at least feels like it!).

Come on, I work in an industrial lab. If I really wanted to get rid of a rat corpse in a hurry, I have plenty of options!

Not to mention pressurised air, liquid nitrogen, liquid oxygen (you have to stand WELLLLLLLLLLLL Back for that), Avpin and any number of Acids...

... suitable PPE is always recommended :)

In one lab I worked at we produced the best popgun ever. It was powered by 25 atmospheres of oxygen. We once accidentally took out a wolf spider with small cork at 20 feet. That was messy. And no, despite my arachnophobia, not deliberate.

I don't get to play with liquid gases any more, but they were fun too.

...Aaaaahhhh... the ubiquitous potato gun. Plastic plumbing pipe, an igniter, a can of deodorant and a potato.

Yes... I know... I am derailing the thread... but... it's like a walk down memory lane (back when Health and Safety didn't rule and we could actually build cool stuff at work that either launched stuff or blew stuff up).

Sniff... those were the days :)

Hey, I started the thread, then answered my own question! I'm fine with 'outlandish and inappropriate uses for technology'.

I had my class firing rockets at me today...

Okay they were made out of paper and foam and powered by kids jumping on empty fizzy bottle but I didn't wear safety glasses. What a rebel.

If they need any advice on upping the threat level, I'm sure Inso and and I could advise.   :D

I may have seen a 2 stage bottle rocket that was filled with water and launched with compressed air...

...

It was a truly beautiful sight

It was still climbing after it took out a hangar window...
