There is a huge gap in the miniature world, not enough quality super heros.

I'd love to see some generic 'superfigs' style of superheros, but done in that fantastic quality of Hasslefree.

Dudes and dudettes with huge muscles, spandex, cowls, capes, utility belts, etc. etc.

That's very true. Crossover Miniatures do some useful stuff, BUT it all seems a little staid; without flair. And let's face it, superheroes need to be impressive!

I'd love for Kev to make proper versions of these... Grymn superheroes:

I have suggested the whole superhero thing before and have even suggested that Kev would be superb at sculpting them (seeing as his anatomy sculpting is second to very few) but I don't think it has enough naked breasts to be interesting for him ;)

The trouble with just converting naked ladies is the poses. Naked girl who is apparently taking off, isn't going to have much use to anyone who doesn't want to convert it into a superheroine.

And there will be different shapes and sizes... and males...

I just don't think Kev is good enough to do it and that is why he doesn't

(That and the fact that superheroes are a bit too niche and aren't likely to make him a huge amount of money).

We've got Captain Kev and Bat-Kieran, and there's a few of the adventurers that could be pressed into service, either directly or with some conversion - there's Grant as a Punisher type, Sgt Spanner just needs a mask, Jade's not that far of Elektra, Ekaterina could be Natasha Romanov, Aaron's basically Kick-Ass, - and you can add in Suzie (b) and maybe Kat to that type, William possibly another good starting point, and Witch Hazel's basically got the same pose Storm had when she flies up the lift shaft at the end of the first X-Men, so probably only needs a cape.

Plus Ferrus might be starting point for a Thor-type, and there's always the Harem girls.

Beyond that though, you're getting into versions of actual identifiable characters, and down that road lies the potential for legal issues.

Generic superheroes would be easy for Kev to make.

Yes, there are a few that can be pressed into service or converted but there could be more.

Using the 'identifyable characters' thing is a bit of a cop out, looking at some of the miniatures in the HF catalogue ;) .

Which characters would most people want (to justify Kev taking the time to sculpt them) - you're looking at characters like Batman, Superman, Wolverine, Hulk et al.

There's already a company that does most of them, and I'm sure Kev doesn't fancy the idea of C&D's dropping through the Whte family letterbox.

Personally, after Kev did "Major Stephanie" what I would like to see would be female versions (and vice-versa) of Avengers characters. Iron Lady, etc. ;-)

Good generic characters would fly off the shelves. Yes, there would need to be certain types... BUT in many cases, the same costume is used by so many characters (just different colours) that it would be impossible to lay claim to the design.

The whole IP issue is what it is and there is stuff in the HF catalogue that comes very close to (if not stepping over) the limit. I can't see how certain types of superhero costumes would be any different.

A Spiderman type with no markings, would just be a guy in a onesie with a mask. A Hulk like character with un-ripped trousers would just be a brute in a simple costume etc. I'm not suggesting 'not' characters (ie a 'not' Iron Man) as that would be asking for trouble, however, a different helmet and no weapons onsomething like this would make a good Iron Man type (especially with a few mods to add flight and improve the position into a dynamic 'super' one):

http://www.hfminis.co.uk/shop?product=resin-master-%252d-lt.-col.-morrison~hfmaster-sf201&category=miniatures~%2Anew-toys%2A

Obviously there are instantly recogniseable characters like Batman et al but a generic Superman type with the separate head option to one with pointy ears would bypass the problem.

The point of this thread isn't that there aren't superheroes available to buy... it's that there aren't superheroes sculpted by Kev to buy (apart from the very small handfull in the HF shop).

Generic characters are really what I'm after.  Superheros that have the trappings, (spandex, boots, utility belts, capes) but maybe aren't identifyable.  Modellers could convert them into recognizable ones, or make up their own supers.

I had high hopes for these types of figures when Pulp City came out, but so far they just seem to be doing their own take.  Those are really cool minis, but not the 'generic ones' I'm after.

Four Color Figs have a bunch of them, and I do like those quite a bit.  But they have a very 'cartoony' look, and it isn't quite the dark and grittier heros I'd like to do.  (although they still work great for Golden Age comics, which I'm also attempting).

As far as Marvel or DC, Knight Models does a great job with these, and despite the prices I've collected a nice horde of them.

I'd like to see 'not' characters from the latest version of Street Fighter IV. The women are lithe, the men are mostly muscley and powerful, and their amazing moves practically qualify them as superheroes already. Some of them would do just fine as street-level or martial artist supers.
