Rediscovering MST3K
« on: April 30, 2014, 10:58:23 PM »
Since I didn't have cable back in the 90's, I never really got a chance to get into the show. A high school friend was a RABID Mistie (kept going on about how much better Joel was...yeah, she was one of those!) but I only saw one episode ("Alien from L.A.", poor me!)

Out of nowhere a couple of weeks ago, I got this inexplicable itch to watch the show. I usually have some documentary or something playing in the background at work, as it helps me concentrate on all the tedious-but-necessary-and-not-very-thought-intensive tasks that I need to do. So now instead, I fire this up instead, and boy am I enjoying myself. One thing that surprised me is how fun the host segments are; they're low-quality too, of course, but they have a certain earnest, community-theater charm that I can't help but love.

But holy crap, are some of those movies indescribably bad!!

Anyway, I'm actually glad I missed it all the first time around, because now I have something really nice to discover all at once, kind of like I did with Discworld a couple of years ago.
"Bernard, float over here so I can punch you."
