Found this game too late to join the kickstarter so I was gutted that I didn't have the bonus of those funky 3d summoned creatures. Lots of fun as games go too!!!

WTF I thought, always wanted to have a crack at a little sculpting and after being inspired by a lot of things I saw on the 'tinternet by fellow Krossers I figured chibi is basically just blobs stuck on blobs, good starting point!

All I had in was plasticine and not wanting to waste any money on the proper sculpting gear I went down the easiest route possible, bonus is I can re-use the plasticine too, more money saved!

Anyhow, these are the said summoned goodies as shown in the rule book

Going for silly prices on ebay, no way I am parting with that sort of Wonga for a few plastic minis!

So here we go, plasticine a go go!

While I was at it I figured I may as well build some 3D scenery too

And they are made from plasticine?

How did you cast them? What materials did you use for the mould? What material are the end casts made from?

Considering a lot of you chaps are into the sculpting melarky much more than me I would say the chibi stuff is nice and fun far as I am concerned, blobs n balls, nice n easy

Inso, just basic stuff, masters were made from plasticine (because I got a sudden late night urge and that's all I had to hand...hmm didn't sound quite right that)

Moulds are latex and playing pieces cast from crystacast, a really hard wearing and good detail casting plaster. I have used this for all the gear I have made from gunships to tiny tiny parts, its fit for purpose. I just find it a hell of a lot less messy and smelly than resin, etc as its just a water based plaster too, easy to clean and work with on a thoroughly amateur level

I actually bought some silicone and two part plastic casting stuff for this project, read the instructions and thought , meh, far too much fannying about..guess I'm just an old fashioned dinosaur

Anyhow, back to project...

Put together some floor sections and cast enough for the standard 'pit' board. Interestingly both the Kros and SDE boards are a 12x12 grid and while a little larger in scale my Kros floor panels will be the beginnings of the SDE 3D board project I have been meaning to start for ages, woohoo!

The kros board will be built up btw with a pit in the middle

Kros board compared to an SDE board, I actually prefer the larger squares so its a go!

Right, time to slap some paint on these puppies!

All done!

144 tiles + extras per board, my eyes hurt!
I decided to glue the standard tiles in the same configuration as the game board leaving the 'object' areas loose. This saves a lot of hassle when setting up as you don't need to assemble all the tiles each time you play and the scenery can be switched around a bit allowing a degree of customisation to each game. The standard tile don't effect gameplay btw
Its divided into quarters which again allows you to potentially rotate for more variation and makes storing a little easy at least for me as they can simply be stacked on a shelf

Two types of trees, snozzleberry bushes, boulderlumps, crates and Demon tiles all sculpted and painted!

Finished board, cant wait for the next game! Now onto sculpting the other side

this looks great. I've always been too scared to try 2part reisn casting. Afraid of buying the wrong stuff. what I want is someone just to create me an amazon basket that I can just click and buy and then a nice little walkthrough with some pictures ^^. I'd love to recreate this project.

I think people assume the chibi style will be easyier than it actually is. everything has to be perfectly finished to look smooth and making anything symetrical is still tough for me.

Put together a few more layers to create a 'King of the Hill' variant board. Complete with a herd of killer Goballs!

Also started work on some cavern stuff for Kros/SDE boards

Beautiful work - I especially love the skeletons and other fossils you've got on the sides of the elevation pieces. Nice touch!

The jolly-ness of it all is spurring me on!

I'm starting to enjoy this stuff in a worrying rain-man sort of way...

Few more sculpts done, some wooden floors, lava flows, doors and columns and some space fillers in the guise of treasure piles, etc

hopefully crack on with assembling some boards sometime soon!
