Old grenadier, demogorgon?
« on: January 21, 2013, 06:36:55 PM »
I painted this guy up yesterday. I think it's meant to be demogorgon from d&d.

Quite keen on that. I love those old castings. The heads remind me of roosters  Not in a bad way I might add

I freaking love that.

So full of charm and character.
Tasker the Mighty,
He roams through the countryside,
He never needs a place to hide...

Thanks!
I was going to paint it a different colour, can't remember what, then went for green and tried something different by giving it a different coloured head rather than keeping it green as well. The texture on the mini is awesome for painting.

After looking at an old grenadier catalogue online it looks like this guy is orcus, I thought he was that fat winged demon,  maybe an early incarnation.

You got it right.  Grenadier got them mixed up.

This has been pretty inspiring actually. I have a load of old metal from the early 80's. When our studio is finished I think I'll dig them out and revisit some of the paint jobs. Ah embarrassing 11 year old painting

First issue got the name wrong, later catalogues switched the names. The later orcus is still sold by mirlitongoblin (who got the grenadier US moulds). They don't seem to sell this figure though...

Forlorn hope has grenadier moulds as well. They are planning on increasing the range as well which is good news... For some of the range, others should be laid to rest. I like most of the monsters but can't bring myself to getting any of the humans except maybe the barbarians.

I've been hunting through all my stuff to find old things. I bought this one recently from gearhead, (correct me if I'm wrong though gearhead) one whim with some other things, I really like this miniature.

Ecellent - I'm very partial to a bit of the old Grenadier d&d miniature range.

Hmmm

I think you'll find that forlorn hope are selling em4 stock. Em4 are run by Doug who was a director of the old grenadier UK company. There was and still is contention of the legal ownership of the grenadier molds.
My understanding is that forlorn hope have existing stock, but none of the em4molds have been put into production. I've managed to buy some things from Doug but they have only been what he already has rather than new casts.
Mirliton have ended up with the US Molds. But even they are only producing later fantasy warriors lines not the earlier d&d stuff.

Right you are. I saw on LAF that EM4 have a mega load of moulds and are gauging what to start putting into production.

Hi beefcake. It might be that my no is out of date. These might be em4 moulds then.

Either way it's good news. As mirliton are expensive and i think my bad experiences with Miniature Heroes are well documented elsewhere on this forum.

I don't really know to be honest. It's just what I understood to be happening. I'll be really happy if they start producing old grenadier stuff. I want some more monsters.
