Don't go putting paint on them now... You'll ruin them...

hmmm, trying to tidy up and I moved the initial pic, so here it is again ...

So why enter things like this?

I think it's good for a few reasons. It gives a reason to shift some things off the unpainted pile. It stretches me more than just doing more of the same for gaming with. It's good fun to try and fit in with themes and other rules).

When Inso told us the theme this time I was stumped, but eventually fulfilled it twice in one diorama ...

The dread situation of being becalmed in age of sail, and the terror of walking a plank to certain death.

So, given I was trying some new stuff, what did I learn?

1)     Soft plastic bubble bath bottles are a pain to work with!
2)     I definitely prefer metal to resin minis. The Black Scorpion pirates I bought at Salute, and even given the rush to get them out, they were not as well cast as previous (metal) stuff I've had from them. They were a pain to clean up, and certainly to my eyes and limited painting skill, were no sharper in detail.
3)     Entering competitions that finish on Christmas eve does not fit with work :(, so no sails or flag I'm afraid.

Good fun though, thanks for organising it Inso.

I really like the wide eyed look of stalks. Really suits the diorama. The water effect is great as well
