We just come over for the day. It means a stupidly early start to get to the airport, Aldergrove rather than Belfast by preference but it usually goes smoothly enough. I am incredibly impressed with public transport in London, especially the tube, the Oyster card makes it so simple. By 1600 or so we are flagging and glad to head off.
I have considered staying over but it complicates things enormously. For the second year running it is also the same weekend as the only major local model railway show with significant retail which is a bit of a bugger.
I must wind back next year though, I bought far too much this year so I had stuff in the backpacks of three people. It would be better to treat it as a recce trip rather than a shopping trip but I do not see that happening, the inner child just goes mad.
It was our third time, I had dragged my brother along in 2010 but he loved it so came gleefully after that and this year I also brought a friend from work who has slipped back into gaming and turns out to be a decent painter. He was not expecting what he got but will be better prepared next year. He has turned in to a bit of a Heresy addict so I think that is a job well done.
