WIP: Layla the Seer
« on: March 16, 2012, 09:04:00 PM »
I love Steve's sculpts!!! Here's what I've got so far on this one:

The dress is Red Gore, shaded with Necron Abyss, highlighted with Bleached Bone. Skin is Pale Flesh over Elf Flesh. I'm still struggling with smooth transitions and shading, as well as just figuring the right colors to use, especially for the red highlight. I don't want to use a yellow or orange, but I don't want it to look pink, either! For hair, I'm thinking a light brown or dark blonde, and I'm still not sure what to use for the under bit of the dress (what do you call it, anyway?)

All suggestions, criticisms, and advice are most welcome!

That's some nice shading. Have you though about giving her white hair? The contrast would be cool.

add an orange to the red highlight and use it VERY thinly, then glaze when you're done.

Update!

I managed to get some blue on her hair, so I'll have to go over it again. What do you guy's think of Sir Chiddlington-Smythe's idea of giving her white hair instead?

I thought white hair would be cool, but the blonde you've done suits her really well.
Good stuff, can't wait to see her without the blue streak.

I like the white hair. It gives her a nice etheral look. The blonde hair was too yellow for my liking.

With those colours I'd go with your suggestion of light brown hair with possibly some mid to darker brown shading. As vampifan mentioned the blonde came across as a bit too yellow.

Now that really does work. Mind if we ask how you achieved those particular hair tones?

Lovely work! Much nicer than the really bright yellow. I'd say she came out really nicely!

Thanks! This time, the hair's based on a darker tan, lightened up with lighter tans and mixing a tiny bit of orange for color. Problem is that I've made some nasty errors, particularly on the face, that are going to need repairing.
