Mecha Goodness from Ground Zero Games
« on: April 23, 2012, 03:02:40 PM »
Ground Zero Games were showing off some nice mechs at Salute this Saturday:

...so...well...you know how it goes...I bought a set and here are a few pix:

They weigh a ton but look like they will go together quite nicely with a decent amount of pinning. I thought that they would work as walkers for Grymn if I left the rocket plates off the front of the shoulders (to allow room for a pilot). They have a really nice Macross vibe too...and talking to the creator on the day, he said that he had used the Tomahawk as inspiration for them.

I really like them and at 16-00 each (all metal) they were good value too.

I felt the vibe right away, and wondered if they were inspired by Macross.  Although I don't really know if I would ever paint much mecha, they are really cool looking.  Very impressive choice of armaments too.

I bought three to be going on with and after receiving a comment on my blog, it seems that there will be more weapon loads coming soon and some different mechs as well... should be interesting :) . My first one has been kept basic and he weighs 9 ounces! That's over half a pound of metal...SHEESH!:

Hasslefree one still looks the best. The GZG ones look a bit too boxy for my liking. I'm sure after you've painted it and put it with your grymn I'll change my mind completely.

I prefer the Hasslefree walker as well, it is much more agile looking. The GZG one has 15mm scale blobs on it and suffers the usual 'it cant be properly detailed because it is for 15mm' syndrome... but I like it because it is boxy and brings back a bit of Robotech/Macross love  for me:)

I like it for the scale it's at. Definately very Mechwarrior look to it but not for 28mm range for some reason. Strange thought isn't it? The hasslefree walker would also look out of place for smaller scales I think but is perfect at 28mm

You definitely got the point across! I thought "Transformers" as soon as I saw the picture, before I saw your text. It's looking great! Those are pretty neat mechs. Don't know what I'd every use 'em for, but they look like fun to paint! Looking forward to seeing the rest.
